| Has anyone used their KEB Global Visa check card without problems in Thailand and India? We have used the card with no problems in the Philippines before, but not certain how it would work elsewhere. KEB says it will work, but I would feel a lot better hearing from someone who has used it successfully elsewhere, especially in India. |

You should be fine. Take one backup card just in case. Otherwise you should be good as gold.
Wait for someone to confirm an India use, though, I guess. |

Just used mine over xmas break in Thailand(phuket) at an ATM, no problem.
No bank fees on KEB's end and a reasonable exchange rate. Way better than my American credit card. |

| Quick question for you KEB card holders. Do you need to have your paycheck deposited directly into your KEB account to qualify for the debit Visa card? thanks |

As long as you have confirmed by actual usage that it worked outside the country prior to this you will be fine as far as access goes.
Do be aware that outside of the major tourist centers the chances of finding an ATM in India are somewhat rare and the machine limits are VERY low.
No worry in Thailand.

Thanks everyone. this eases my mind a lot.
I have used my KEB card before, as I wrote earlier in the Philippines, but this is a newer card they just gave me. The number is the same, so I think it will be okay.
Quack Addict, We did not have to have direct deposite. |

Different card, untested abroad = DO NOT DEPEND ON IT AS YOUR ONLY SOURCE OF FUNDS (even if it is the same number on the same account.
Have a plan "B" or carry extra cash and test it early in case you need to get it "fixed" or find alternate sources of funds.

I agree about the plan B. I wired money back to my USA debit card this morning because I know it does work internationally. We are also getting refunded our air tickets once we arrive at final destination in India. We had to buy them at the last minute, which made them expensive, so we will have 2.8 million won refund (in India currency) upon arrival. We will also be carrying cash.
I probably will not need my KEB, but I like to know I have extra cash if I need it. I admire travelers that can just take off and not worry about anything. Me I book hotels in advance, stuff money in several places, like my shoe, read "Lonely Planets" right up until the time I leave, and arrive for a flight usually about three hours ahead of time. And, after all this I still worry sometimes while traveling, that I will end up somewhere gnawing on a rat for survival. |

| Even if the new card has the same number I suggest calling KEB customer service to confirm that the card can be used overseas. |

| If you haven't bought your travel insurance yet, use your KEB card to do so online to check if it works. Doing this saved me a big headache a few years back. |

FYI there is now a 150 THB charge (about 5500 won) on all Thai bank machines for every withdrawal.
I haven't checked my KEB account since arriving in Thailand, but is a previous poster correct in saying that KEB charges nothing for foreign withdrawals? I hope they don't, because the local ATM fee is pretty steep! |
