Hello all,

Sorry, I'm sort of spamming the board with this question, but I cannot get a solid response no matter who I ask. Does anyone know for certain where I can get fingerprinted in Seoul? And also how to get there? I keep getting turned away at different police stations. Very frustrating.

Thanks.

where are you located? you need to go to the main police station (the Gu station, example seongdong-GU, gwangjin-GU, etc.)

I am in Gangnam, but I will go anywhere. I just need to get the bloody things done, and I'm sick of being turned away everywhere I go. Do you know where the Gangnam-gu station is/how to get there?

I did a google search with exact phrase "police station", adding keywords, seoul, korea, gwangnam-gu plus the hangul spelling for police station obtained from google-translate. That got me to a page that google translated for me, and there was a phone number for the police station.

Then, in google maps, you type in the phone number, and you get a map showing the location.

I am not certain this is what you are looking for. Good luck.

The Anyang one is pretty easy to find, and it's at Beomgye, so really only about thirty minutes or so from Kangnam. If you're open to that, I can give you directions.

maybe u should ask your co teacher to call to confirm if they can do fingerprints before going.

Ha! Yeah, if my co-teacher ever showed up for work or interacted with me in any way, that might be an option. I have other Korean friends who can call for me, however. I live very close to Daechi Station, so I imagine it will be an easy find. Thanks so much for your help. Considering the lack of support at my current school, this forum is truly a big help. Smile

Wow, I'm shocked at how many false info is in this thread.

You don't need to go to the main office in the "gu"'s. You can go to ANY police station in Seoul.

I got one done at a local station, and we made an appointment and they did it on the forms I printed from the FBI website.

Also went to one of the gu headquarters offices and had it done in a fancy CSI-esque room.

The FBI accepted both places.

I've sent mine from both local and main district offices. Just call ahead of time to be polite and set up an appointment. I had one of my Korean friends call it was very simple to do it all.

Interesting. I went into a few stations and they turned me away, saying that it was only done at certain stations. Perhaps it's just a matter of luck.

going to the main police station is what i read on the forums. i didn't want to run around seoul trying to get my fingerprints and be rejected, so i just went to the Gu police station and got it done with no problems. the OP has had problems getting his done, so i assumed he was going to the local stations.

but, if you're right, then you're right. i do agree with calling in advanced and making an appointment.

so to the OP, you can keep doing what you've been doing or instead, you can try going to the main police station where they will definitely have a person to fingerprint you.

This is exactly why I have come to this forum with the question. Everyone told me it could be done at any police station which, in my particular case, is not true. I simply want to go where I know for certain that it can be done. I have little patience for the run-around any more.

Also, the OP is a she.

Thanks again, Machoman.

I'm going to keep it real... I think the reason why you guys are getting denied is because you're just walking into a police station without an appointment with forms saying "look at me! I don't speak Korean help me!" expecting them to do it. And since this is the police station we're talking, I could understand them turning you away.

Reading your responses just made me almost positive I got mine done at my local station (which is literally next door to my job) because my Korean coworker walked in there with me and set up an appointment.

Both times I got it done I had appointments.

For what it's worth, if you're reading this thread and are new to the CBC you CAN do it at a local station, but I really recommend you either call first or go in with a Korean. Wasn't a problem for me.

I didn't have an appointment but I went with a dude from my school. The Anyang CSI actually has copies of the forms printed already.
