realistically = NO.
You are in the UK.
They are in Korea.
The cost of litigation would cost you more than you could hope to receive in compensation.
Moral of the story (for all the other newbies out there reading this!) is:
Never buy your tickets until you have the visa in your passport.
Good news is that if you wanted to take a full time position in Korea at least you have all your documents in hand.

Are you interested in teaching a full year in Korea? You've got your docs together. If you catch this message in time it is possible to change the departure date on the ticket prior to boarding, possibly with a small fee depending on the airline. |

You may need to have/supply air-tickets in order to get a camp visa. |

Nope. Onward/return passage is NOT a requirement for a C4 (a work visa).

So now, having spent about 700 on visa docs and flights, I have no job, which I should be starting tomorrow, and it doesn't look like I'm even getting an apology from Yonsei as they are no longer responding to my emails.
Is there anything I can do about this??? |
Cases like this are on the rise now because of the general economic situation.
You have people spending fortunes just to get their documents together and on living expenses while they wait for jobs.
Then you have immigration where many people are getting visas refused because of confusion surrounding the requirements. Recruiters themselves aren't even sure. |

Yonsei (the foreign language institute) has a terrible reputation. |

I wish it was easier to find a school that will sponsor your visa in Japan.
The visa process there was literally an email to the school with my docs (no apostilles) then a letter to the embassy with a 5 processing fee and sent the visa a week later. So simple it was almost unbelievable. |
