I have a place to start working for EPIK in Seoul in Spring 2011 (provided I get the NOA etc.) My recruiter told me that I will receive the NOA in mid-January - this is a slight delay, as she originally said I would receive it in early January.

Is this normal? Is anyone else aware of this? I worry slightly that perhaps more experienced teachers have been contacted first.. or something like that.

Thanks

I would not be surprised by this at all. Keep waiting. In the mean time, send your resumes off to a few recruiters for hagwon positions just in case the public school job falls through. Better to have your choice of jobs then to get stuck with nothing.

I agree with the above comment. Also, in every intake of EPIK teachers, the recruiters seem to overestimate how early they will have NOAs. So when that time comes and goes and they have to push back the expected date, future teachers start freaking out. Kinda annoying to watch this happen with every cycle--I feel everyone's pain. Realistically, probably third week of January we will start to hear about NOAs coming out, and this is typical from my experience. If you applied during the normal Oct 1 - Dec 15 time, the Office of Education makes up all the NOAs in mass, so I highly doubt more experienced teachers are getting word before the less experienced.

The NOAs are being done in mass and I would say that the FBI CBCs are delaying the process as people are still in the process of sending in documents.

I am also waiting for my NOA and getting a bit worried as well. Seems like we're all in the same boat...

A recruiter told me that on the last week of January they will most likely be sending the NOAs.
