I have thought about purchasing a decent flatscreen tv, oven, Humidifier and, blender.

Are there any things you guys want but wont buy because you'd have to sell at the end of your contract?

you really should just slurge and get a humidifier. Its a necessity not a luxury.

Fancy cookware. The mark up here is ridiculous. I saw a spatula I wanted yesterday, and it was 60,000 won. It'd have been $25 at home.

You can find humidifiers under $20 US and ovens under $100 on Gmarket. These are ovens you can bake cakes in and roast whole chickens with.

i bought a humidifier my first year here. didn't notice any difference, got rid of it after it started to get moldy. it's my third year living here and i'm fine without it.

but yeah, i didn't want to buy a toaster oven, microwave, rice cooker, nice desk chair, queen sized bed.

The bedding and cookware that I got when I first arrived is long gone. I hate how the polyester fibers turn into scratchy balls of plastic that make my skin red and I burnt up the gold toned pan the first time that I walked away from some rice to answer the phone. If you get the chance, buy decent stuff to begin with. It doesn't have to be top of the line, just good enough to handle some amateur cooking practice. I would buy better stuff if I knew that I'd be here longer. Instead, I waste my money on disposable crap.

I need a pill shaver to shave the lint off of clothes. The one or two I've found have been made in China as I try to stay away from Chinese goods.

There's a convection oven available on G-Market for just under W90,000 that's big enough to cook just about anything smaller than a turkey. If you're going to be here for at least a year, it's a damn good investment.

A blender? That's W30K tops. Just buy it and enjoy your milkshakes and pina coladas already.
