In the end, it's going to come down to your reputation in the "mother" market, your wife's ability to seal the deal with companies and your ability to keep a long term relationship with all your students.
If you are successful, you might be able to pay cash for a new car with two months work, like my friend did. (-;

same apartment school for 4 years, no more than 4 students/class= no yo-yo. + all middle schoolers are 1:1 at the same price and the moms pay cash each lesson (to avoid the terrible long months with extra teaching and no extra pay syndrome). Just like CDI, minus the working on red days.
you'd have to lobotomize me b/f I'd step foot in a hagwon.
but money is money and as long as you're happy with it, it's great. |

OK re: hogwon rates.
I worked different PT jobs at hogwons. I live in a 500,000 sized city.
They all pay me 35K for a 40 minute class (and give me a 5 class block). One asked for discount then capitulated. The other didn't ask for discount. My friend works another place for 40K for 40min. Have another friend working 50K for 50min place.
Basically I'm going for 40K for 40min next time. Might be hard for me in a smaller town, but in a metro area you should get 1K/min I'd think. |

the 2011 drives like a dream (and yes it still has the mercedes engine)...and it even gets great mileage.....but that might be the only thing I get for the next 10 years from my wife (lol).

Meh, 4 or 5 million on an F-2. That's chump change. With a well paying uni. job and part-time jobs, you should be making between 7 and 10 a month. Location is important, and using your uni. vacation periods well can really allow you to really stockpile your income if you are an F-2 visa holder. Also, in no way, shape, or form should you be taking anything less than 50,000 an hour for part-time work through recruiters. If you see them offering 25-40 per hour, you can be sure they are keeping 30-50% or more of the actual hourly pay the school/company pays per hour for doing nothing more than introducing you to the school. That's robbery.
Also, learn how to get the most from your tax return by claiming everything you are allowed to. Otherwise, you'll just be given the minimum, when it could be doubled. |

I've found this an interesting read.
Apart from what must be a huge salary for the well paying Uni gig, the fee for privates is pretty much similar in Seoul as for smaller cities I've lived in.
For some reason, I was under the impression that privates in Seoul were worth more. A friend of mine used to work part time at a really small Hagwon, the owner now just gives him her students to teach as privates. If he needs another NET then she gives him a finders fee.
He's doing what has been suggested in that he predominatly teaches out of the one apartment building. His first mom has put out the good word to the other moms. He does one afternoon a week at a PS Elementary afterschool class at 4x 50K |

A new fvisa - needs to learn the ropes and go through the process of how to manage so much work (and keep your sanity). So, I would say that they average about 3-5 mil. Also, if your an F2, get a uni gig, and get it fast if ya can....make the right friends!
the season vets - well they average between the 7-10 range with the uni gig. Some vets have their own school, and that might pull in more......
How a f-series can make the most of his/her time...
1. low hour uni gig
2. blocks of at least 4-6 of hogwon classes, public schools, or whatever at 40-50k an hour, M-F
3. privates at night - maybe 1-2 a night on the weekdays (50k hr)
4. privates all weekend (maybe 10-15 hours worth) - It sucks sometimes, but if you get used to it, its not that bad. Just make sure that you enjoy the students and create stuff that is fun for you and them.
But there are other ways......some fvisas might not agree with me...but this makes a lot of cash...been doing it for a while |

You may value your freetime, and that's awesome. But, I value my family and am willing to sacrifice some of my young years to provide the best life I can. That's what a parent is supposed to do.....Would you want your dad to take a vacation if he could easily make an extra 7mil? No-brainer....
