Renewing contract....
2.3 mil (try to haggle to 2.4)
5 days extra holiday (so 11 in all... was 6 before) paid.
2 weeks back at home. one week of which is paid.
Promised the better schedules.
Stress free job, but no breaks whatsoever between classes (breaks currently but this will soon change when classes re-fill).
Teaching material lame and frankly sh*tty.
The place has been blacklisted twice, but they treat me well because they like me.
Phone teach all students every month and evaluate.
Location... 30 mins by subway to Seoul. (as you can see, Anyang).
I'm a very decisive man. Except now. And most occasions in life. So I want some other losers to create a poll-like opinion for me to consider.
Cheerio ^_^ |

Your poll has 2.2 and 2.4, but your post has 2.3 and 2.4. Present your premise more accurately. Also, it's "raise", not "rise".
Holidays is not an objective part to deciding a job. Some people need them, while others don't. One school forced me to take winter vacation days in April because I didn't use them all in winter.
What you should do is post the contract. Or, you could post the contract with modified areas. I think this will get a better response. Obviously, you want more pay. All jobs are like this. What makes you think the school will accept the other stuff? What will you do for them in return? Again, this points to the contract.
However, seeing that you noted teaching material was bad, I would probably look for another school. I average like 6 months or less before I have to split crap schools. I stick around for 1-4 years if they are good and there is a reason to be there.
It doesn't sound like you have a reason to be at your school. You are trying to get time away from them. Perhaps you are afraid you can't get another school so you are trying to get other people to drum up reasons to stay where are. A bit of a security blanket syndrome. Burn the blanket and make a decision where you want to be. |

I was going to change it to 'rising from 2.2' to be a smartass, but I can't seem to edit the poll part now.
Anyway, the poll does indeed cover all grounds. Yes, for 2.3, no for any cost or yes for 2.4.
2.2 isn't an option, of course.
helpful and psychological post there, though.
It's certainly not about fear, I was at first entirely willing and 100% expecting myself to move to another place, for variation. Another year of the same seems like the biggest point to consider for me. (in bold for sentence below)
I'm confident that I can get a new job, and very willing to do the gamble. It could be worse, but it could also be a lot better.
Really, truly, the blanket is the actual problem for the reason in bold.
I think they would accept my offers because I'm the best they've had in the 4 years they've existed. I know by the way they treat me compared to how they treat the others.
But... It is an easy job, it's a nice location, it would save so much time money and effort moving all my stuff that i've gathered over the months.
I would be the first ever to re-contract. I'm only the second to fully complete a contract out of... 9 foreign teachers.
If others were in my shoes, that is what I'd like to know. Because perhaps I am delusional and just accustomed.
For example, I went to Hong Kong and was shocked about how great the place was, how happy the people were, how colourful its existence was.
Perhaps I'm just accustomed to utter shit, and don't think it's so bad, when really I could have hell better. |

You have a year of experience.
Assuming you'd rather live in Seoul, you can get a better job in Seoul. Just hunt like crazy, contact lots of recruiters and something better will come up.
Good luck. |

| PS in America we say 'raise', but in Britain they say 'rise'. Or so I've read. |

Well I said rise naturally because in the UK you say 'pay rise' not 'pay raise'.
The words individually i think are objectively different in meaning globally, though.
And yeah I think I'll spend a little while looking around before getting back to her but she left it so short notice I don't have much time to make a decision... |

| I don't see how someone can just say "pay me 200,000 more per month". Are you really teaching more students? |
