I only have 2 long blacks a day. I wish it was less but hey I love coffee... I only buy talls (small) as drinking Americano or long blacks means that I don't get that sweet taste and it takes me longer to drink it cause it is also extremely hot.... and I dont put in any sugar
I can honestly say if you want to cut down on coffee take out the sugar and milk and you will. I used to love lattes but found I could drink a venti and still want more and could easily drink double shots 2-3 times a day |

Shouldn't you be out and about killing homeless people and fretting about business cards?
I sometimes drink a can of Let's Be coffee in the morning. Other than that, none. |

| About 3-4 6oz cups a day. Less than one cup I'm a zombie, more than 4 and it starts to affect me negatively. I live for coffee. To me there's nothing in the world better than the smell of the first cup brewing in the morning. If the doctor told me I couldn't drink coffee anymore I'd be a cranky miserable person, and that's before factoring in caffeine withdrawal. |

Just everyone who drinks coffee. And it isn't so much that you're judging, it is the fact that you come across as a sanctimonious asshole. At least you could be entertaining when you talk down to others. |

Caffeine doesn't work for me.
I remember drinking a few litres of energy drinks a day for a while, because they were cheap-ass and BOGOF. Did nothing...
Once I remember taking several energy drinks and caffeine pills and it just made me vomit all over a supermarket floor and pizza hut bathroom and cinema.
Good times, good times. |

Only insecure people feel they are being talked down to by others. So tough of you to call me names on the internet.
I am not against coffee but I am against people using it to keep themselves functioning because that is a recipe for mental and physical burnout that I see hurting so many individuals
, families and commuinties.
Where did this insanity come from of being a ego driven busy person that defines themselves by how much they can do in a day so that they need to take stimulants to keep up with their schedule.
It's insane how stressed some of my clients are and when they come off coffee they and all the people around them can start to relax.
Sad people are starting to forget how to relax.
I enjoy coffee as I have a starbucks in my building and I love chatting over coffee but to use it as my fuel source and to think adrenaline is a good long term fuel source is just insane. |

Wait, what's wrong with being an addict? You can be an addict and still function, right? Sophisticated businessmen in the 60's drank alcohol all the time and they could afford a fancier lifestyle than I can.
With that said, I loved those Monster coffee beverages in America. The Lo-ball kind was my fave with all kinds of not-sugar but filled with caffeine. Here I occasionally treat myself to a Max. I hate regular energy drinks, but the coffee kinds are like bearded men who ride bikes. Sooo tasty! |

| Can the health benefits of coffee be obtained by drinking decaf? Caffeinated coffee really can interfere with a good night's sleep. |
Yes, according to the article it can:

Multiple Components
The researchers arent sure which of the many components of coffee is responsible for the effect, though it probably isnt caffeine because the same association was seen for decaffeinated coffee, Wilson said. The link wasnt seen in patients with an earlier stage of prostate cancer, she said.
Coffee lowers the risk of Type 2 diabetes by increasing the bodys ability to use insulin to convert blood sugar to energy, previous research has shown.
Higher insulin levels have also been associated with an increased risk of prostate cancer, suggesting the hormone may be the link between coffee and the disease, Wilson said. |

The actual direct link is between insulin levels and prostrate cancer. The higher insulin levels make it easier for the body to ward off certain diseases such as prostrate cancer. Likewise, coffee may help reduce the risk of Type II diabetes, provided you take your coffee without sugar.
Another health benefit form coffee is that it thins the blood helping to reduce the risk of heart disease. It should be noted, however, that tea, and especially green tea, is more potent than coffee in that regard. |

Is avoiding lying down another way to prevent "prostrate cancer"? |

Maybe I'm just too mentally boring to be stimulated by these things. Weed, energy drinks, coffee, tea. Nothing I consume energises me.
Either that or I have diabetes. |

Oh, so the term condescending stems from peoples insecurities huh? And not a person's arrogance? And where do you come up with this theory?
And I wasn't insulting you, I was describing you. Fine, perhaps asshole was a bit over the top; you were sounding santimonous and preachy. And hey, I would be happy to say as much in person.

Fair enough. But coming up with some arbitrary number of one cup a week is another story...

How many people think adrenaline is a good long term fuel source though? I think many people just view it as a stop gap measure and unfortunately it becomes more than that. |
