Uh, does weed energize anyone???

It makes people giggly. Or heightens the mood they are already in, to a degree such as alcohol, yes.
Just makes me feel dizzy, Even after having used it enough to have adjusted to its effects.

Oh, so the term condescending stems from peoples insecurities huh? And not a person's arrogance? And where do you come up with this theory?

And I wasn't insulting you, I was describing you. Fine, perhaps asshole was a bit over the top; you were sounding santimonous and preachy. And hey, I would be happy to say as much in person.

Fair enough. But coming up with some arbitrary number of one cup a week is another story...

I enjoy coffee as I have a starbucks in my building and I love chatting over coffee but to use it as my fuel source and to think adrenaline is a good long term fuel source is just insane.

How many people think adrenaline is a good long term fuel source though? I think many people just view it as a stop gap measure and unfortunately it becomes more than that.

Maybe I take it too serious because I get to see the masses of 37-40 year olds who have burned out their systems. The next stage depression starts to set in and they can't sleep which again sets them looking for more uppers and anti-depressants.

The ones that listen slow down and rest their bodies and a few months later with rest and heaps of water and no friggin caffeine they start to get back to feeling human again.

At this point the kids say daddy is nice again and mommy doesn't yell at us anymore.

Heh but its just coffee and you are perfectly normal if you cant function
without it.

The key to sucess is working harder and harder and more and more and coffee is the perfect drug to keep you in your left brain while ignoring your body so you can even work more.

More hours equal more cash thats what all the rich guys do.

weed use to energize me.. but I haven't smoked it in 10 years so I really don't know what it will do to me now..
but I was a freak on it.. while my friends would all be mellowing out on the sofa, ordering pizza. I would be cleaning the house and blasting the stereo and not wanting to eat.

best energy.. is more than 5 hours sleep. as I live on 6 hours I am fine
but sometimes I only get 5 and feel tired in the afternoon, so usually drink one more coffee than usual.

Coffee is delicious and as an ex-barista, I can't imagine a morning without it. Especially when it's cold outside.

I drink 2-3 cups every morning and sometimes I have another one before my afternoon workout. It enhances performance for some, but for me it increases the likelihood that I will work out instead of taking a nap. However, if I am truly fatigued, drinking coffee will not help me stay awake. Nor would the ADD meds that I took in college.

Globutron, I have met a few people like you...none of that stuff effects them. To be honest, one of those people is one of the most well adjusted people I have ever met.

I drink 0-1 cup a day. Usually 0. I love my favorite tea, when I have it, but is more about the warm comfort that it gives me than anything.

DD, first, let me say, you write some posts I really respect, so please don't take this as a personal attack, because it's not (I don't believe in doing that, even on Dave's, I think there is no call for being rude, even if 60%-99% are). But, that said, when it comes to caffeine and sleeping medicine (I remember a bit of an argument with NYC GAL) posts, you have come across with a bit of a higher than thou 'tude. While some people may use it to function, others just enjoy coffee. Maybe you don't actually have this 'tude, but people are just saying, that's they way your posts come across. Just saying.

I love coffee. But if I ever feel like I am feeling addicted (as I was at about 22-ages ago, I taper and stop. I hate that feeling. When I was all about it, I remember my bro ordering a quad mocha each, which we finished, then he went and ordered 2 more. I thought he was insane.

I do the same thing. There's times I think my coffee drinking gets out of control, like say, during exam period in University. I force myself to go through withdrawal for a few days, and then go back to my normal amount a day. It seems to work.

been there myself. don't need it anymore, but enjoy some on the weekends.
Vitamin E helps with the withdrawal symptoms, by the way (mainly the headaches)

I used to drink around 5 cups a day. I'm down to one, and drink a lot of green tea now.
