I want to experience an Android device but dont really need the hottest new toy.

Is there a place where I can find a reasonably priced unit (as in used or maybe older model)?

I'm under contract with SK so I wont be signing up for a new one.

Most stores will force you to close your current account (unless you have a F2 or F5) before you can get a new phone. If you go this route you'll have those lovely termination fees.

If your original contract is already finished and you're paying from month-to month that won't be an issue.

The lower model (new) Androids usually run in the 600,000-700,000 range. The upper models can run in the 800,000-900,000 range. Of course with a 2 year contract those prices decrease dramatically depending on which plan you sign up for.

Were there any specific models you were interested in?

Unfortunately I have an E-2 visa AND I have 8 months left on my 2-year contract (though I was told I could break it after 1 year for 75,000W). Otherwise I would have sent you a PM Drew10. Wink

I'm an unapologetic Apple fan (I just bought an iPod Touch 4), but I'm the mindless sheep type, so I wanted to give Android a try. It sounds like it would be an expensive experiment though.

I've seen a used Motoroi (and some other Android phones for a reasonable price) pop up a few times on craigslist for under 250,000. I'd verify that it's off contract before buying a used smartphone in Korea otherwise you'll be SOL.

Well let's put it this way....

Right now if you sign up for a 2 year contract with a 55,000 per month plan, I can sell you a nexus one for extremely cheap if not free and give you 60,000 in cash.

Which makes venturing into Android territory cheap providing you keep the phone (and contract) for 2 years.

Under what carrier? And what's the 55k plan consist of? I'm currently under a 2-year plan with 6 months to go, but I'm thinking of buying out the phone and continuing the plan with a new Android phone..
