I downloaded a non-cam version of Black Swan this week on btjunkie. The casting was great. The direction was horrible.

i loved black swan. seeing natalie portman go crazy was awesome. i could be biased, i'm a darren aronofsky fan. oh, and i have a pirated dvd version of it.

I thought it was a tad obvious, but I'm a big Natalie Portman fan. I watched Leon the next day again because she's so great.

I watched both of these this week.

Black Swan was pretty entertaining but it will make you squirm a bit for a few reasons. Also, like the previous poster said, it's a little obvious.

I was disappointed with True Grit but that might be because of the hype. I think some of the Coen Brothers' lesser known films are better. I haven't seen the original, so I don't know how they compare.

I am not sure how ambigious Black Swan was trying to be. There was so much foreshadowing of the girl losing her grip with reality that I don't think the ending was supposed to be a big shocker. I liked it for direction and acting but doubt I will ever watch it again.
I thought True Grit was 7 shades of awesome. Good acting, classic story, fine execution. I also prefer a lot of the Coen brothers earlier, more "quirky" work like Lebowski and Oh Brother but I enjoyed the hell out of True Grit.

i loved true grit, jeff bridges was hilarious and i am a huge fan of both westerns and the coen brothers...

i also love darren aronofsky films and thought black swan was pretty good... especially the end. and natalie portman was awesome.

I liked both but enjoyed True Grit much more. Unexpectedly awesome even coming from the Coens.

I like thrillers that explore that line between sane and insane. The good ones make you question whether or not it really exists. In my opinion, Black Swan was too sex obsessed and didn't really do that, nor did it go very deeply into Natalie Portman's character. It was a pretty film, and very sexy, but not a substantial thriller.

true grit was good but not great and black swan was basically light vs dark side so very obvious.
