Has anyone applied to the ROK Airforce Academy posting from November 29th and actually gotten a response?
I have 8 years of service as an American military officer and a CELTA, as well as straight A's in college. So far...zippo. Total blow-off.
What the heck do they want? I'm damn curious to hear what they're actually looking for in a candidate.
Thanks |

they wrote me for an interview a couple of weeks back, but it had been so long since i'd put in my resume that i'd already given up and accepted another position.
My credentials are good, but there are plenty who have better.

This past July/Aug a ROK military job posting told you not to apply if you weren't planning on being in town during one week late August, I was contacted for an interview date 3 weeks in advance but never given a specific time/place. I thought that would obviously come later, the only thing that came later was a cancelation of the interview. I wouldn't stay in town for an interview with the ROK in August. |

ahh...
MATESOL and 4 years of experience. Makes sense.
But at 2.3 I didn't think it was such a primo opportunity. Really more entry-level.
Am I wrong??? |

well- for those who didn't get a response, here's mine...(Nice guy, I'm wondering if they know what a CELTA is??????)
"Dear Scott,
I received a memo from my co-officer and he told me that you made a call.
we are sorry to inform you that we already are in a process of interviewing other applicants that we have selected.
we wanted to have you for the interview, but we had many applicants who have TEFL, TESOL, and ESL certificates and
had a longer history of teaching english, and more educational backgrounds (masters and doctorate degrees).
we had hard time deciding who to put on the list for the interview
if ever there is another vacancy for the position of foreign instructor here, i will make sure that we, the members of the english department would give you a e-mail
thank you so much for your interest to teach here in the Air Force Academy,
we would expect you again.
Lt. Hong" |

I don't think you're wrong at all. the benefits are better than what I ended up taking, but the salary is a fair bit lower. maybe their banking on people willing to take a lower salary to have Air Force Academy on their resume |
