Get's 8 from me! Being an old Tron fan, a sci-fi fan, and a CGI fan. It loses marks for product placement though
Definitely see it on the IMAX though. |

It wasn't the best, wasn't the worst...but I watched it in 4D which GREATLY enhanced the viewing experience! |

It did make me reflect on how much electronics have moved into our lives compared to the time of the first one.
Opening seen was in a house that is about 5 minutes from where I grew up in vancouver.
i wish the movie had stayed with more scenes like the bike fights. |

Very average. Hadn't seen the original but it must have been better than this. Almost made me lose all respect for Jeff Bridges.

The original sucks.
This one is better.
It's not such an amazing story... but it's gorgeous. |

I haven't seen it yet, but I'm also a fan of the original. I hope that will make it more enjoyable. I'm a bit confused by the product placement statement, though. Gives me mental images of them sipping coke between bouts of throwing those illuminated doughnut-like frisbees at each other. |

the sequel sucks in terms of dialogue and plot development - an awful movie really - but it was nice to re-live the Tron experience as someone who liked the first film as a kid
the sequel is more of a small screen quality, a one-time tv show special, kind of thing |

If your standards are low enough to like Tron you will probably enjoy anything with an explosion. |

Say what you will about the story/characters/etc., but this movie looked fantastic. Not every movie in the world has to be some sort of profound meditation on pain and the human condition... this one was supposed to be mindless fluff, but when they were making it they took the time to make the thing look incredible... and it really does.
Compare it to something like Transformers, which has lots of explosions but in which every character is hideously ugly and every action scene is completely incoherent to the point where it's just noise and ugliness.
There's an art to shooting action, just like there's an art to writing some screenplay with heaps of slow takes and meditating on trees and showing broken people healing their inner wounds and such... |
