Beware the Raiders of the Lost ARC!
You may have to roll between sliding doors and then be chased out of Incheon Airport by dressed natives throwing chopsticks at your express bus (If you forget to pay for your ramen at Family Mart!)
Other than that you should be fine! |

After my husband's ARC was extended, we went to Beijing for a week. When we came back and were going through customs at Incheon, my husband was taken to a room off to the side and that's the last I heard from him for an hour.
Apparently although the extension date was written on the back of the card, someone forgot to put it into the computer. They spent an hour calling back and forth to the immigration office trying to get it fixed.
Anyway, you can probably expect to be taken off to the little room and held for who knows how long until they get something sorted. |

Lost ARC is not a crime BUT:
The airline will hassle you (no proof of residency in Korea and nothing in your passport to allow you to fly into Korea without onward passage - ie they will treat you like a tourist.)
As long as you are in the computer the officer at passport control will check your passport, send to you his supervisor to confirm that you indeed are a registered foreigner, then allow you entry and inform you that you need to replace your ARC.
