|
|
It cost me over 500 to ship the thing here and pay import fees back in december last year. Been ridden about 12 days.
I feel like my quiver is getting out of control and since im about to grab a BSOD, its getting a bit much. So im selling this one to clear up some space.
Now newbies. Im not selling you this board. It would be unethical. Its a little too aggressive for you. If youre reading this and youre just after a snowboard for mucking about and learning on, this isnt really for you. You need something a little more playful.
Hoepfully the title alone means the people reading this know what it is. So if you do, i would LOVE to sell you this deck.
This deck is called a quiver killer as you well know, but its got one massive function:
KILLING IT IN THE PIPE.
Its the same board as the two times goodwood pipe winner - the capita food court gangsta. It has a LOT of pop, its solid and above all stable. This thing wont be sliding out on you in a landing on an icy pipe.

Summary:
Park, Pipe and Powder.. if you want to ride the three Ps the Quiver Killer looks like a wise choice. With a directional shape and flex, carbon fibre reinforced glass and a traditional camber profile, the Quiver Killer just loves flying up Pipe walls, the Transworld crew loved it so much they awarded it an award for being a top pipe performer. Capita have also set back the stance very slightly for versatility in different snow conditions. |

Location: Winter Park, Colorado
Snow Conditions: Hardpacked and Icy Conditions
Setup: Capita Quiver Killer Snowboard, Union Bindings
Size: 157cm.
First Impression: This thing is a fucking rocket ship. This thing feels versatile and will terrorize the entire mountain.
Weight: Light-Midweight.
Flex: The Quiver Killer doesnt feel overly stiff but does feel solid. The board has a medium flex and single species poplar wood core..
Turning: The board allowed for super easy and stable turning at high speeds on icier conditions.. It has Biax Fiberglass which is very forgiving and the fiberglass is laid by hand on both sides of the core for additional stability, ease in turning.
Pop: The board had a ton of pop. Their are carbon stringers that run from the nose all the way to the tail which allow for mad energy load and release when you pop.
Switch: This is a directional freestyle board and its set up about a half inch back from center. It feels really good regular but maintains its stability when riding switch.
Overall Impression: This is my favorite board that I rode at the SIA tradeshow On Snow Demo. I rode the 157 and it was by far the most fun and most stable of the boards I rode. The board feels solid and rides very solid while still allowing for mad ollies and super carving. This price of the board is epic and I would definitely ride it if I had one choice for a single board for the season.. |
NB: this is 2011 board i believe, but only change is graphic.
Basically this is not your BS crap youll find elsewhere in foreigner classifieds in korea. This is one of the best boards for what it does in the world.
Understand as well, its called the quiver killer for a reason.
If you're a more aggressive rider, and are looking for a stable deck that will bomb the crud and ice that is korea, you will be hard pushed to find a better deck. If you are all about charging and big features, this is the deck for you. If you want a jib stick (like pretty much 80% of the boards sold at retail here), you might want to look elsewhere. But if you want a deck fro serious bombing, and hitting the pipe, you wont find a better bargain in korea.
Honestly im still kinda curious about it, so if no one wants it before the start of the season ill probably end up keeping it and saving the bataleon/bsod cravings till the end of the season
280,000 shipped (inside korea obviously).
Heres a couple of pics (bindings NOT included, im keeping my forces thanks )

============================================
Bells and whistles and what it all means - ipps explains the Quiver Killer:
FLEX = 7
CAMBER
Directional
DEEP Radial sidecut
Softer tip/Stiffer tail
Setback
Twin shape
Let me explain what all this means (ps, im not BSing you, i wrote this: http://www.trusnow.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=40125 so i know what all this stuff means for your ride :p but if you have a spare hour or two to kill, read it and youll follow what im saying)
...because its going to get complicated
Because of the set back and the stiffer tail it means that you can really load the tail for ridiculous pop by centering the stance. This will give you pop for jumps and leaving the wall of the half pipe. BUT on non park features it means youll have snappier edge to edge with your carves.
Another huge advantage this has is that because you are sitting in the ass of the deck, you dont have to work so hard to get float in Pow.
I bought this deck precisely because i wanted a more aggressive freestyle stick that would take me into the pipe, but that could also let me play in hokkaido pow. Because most pipe decks are centered twins, this one is pretty unique.
However it can be ridden CLOSE to a twin. You can center the bindings in realtion to the tip and tail (meaning the front binding is the exact distance from the tip as the back binding is from the tail). This makes it great for switch too. A proviso though, the softer tip means you wont get as much pop going that way obviously as you would going forwards.
Speaking of that, the point of the soft tip is for turn initiation. It means the deck wont catch by locking in too hard when you start a turn or when you have a squirly landing (in a squirly landing on your edge a stiff nose would result in the contact literally pulling you into the turn (and off balance), whereas a softer nose will result in a bit less of a lock). The point then of a softer tip is to make you gently start the turn unless YOU decide to make it more aggressive. And likelwise, PART of the point of the stiff tail is to make existing the turn a little faster and explosive so you dont get stuck fighting the back contact to release at the end of the turn. All good clean scientific fun. (though it also gives you pop, and also gives you stability in landings so the board doesnt slide out under you).
This is in part to offset the deep sidecut (a sidecut radius - 7.9 - you would not normally find on anything outside of a jib or pure pipe deck). Now the purpose of the deep sidecut is to make faster, shorter turns. These are essential to a pipe deck where you make explosive changes of direction. Theyre also essential in pretty much every freestyle movement and its part of the reason this deck calls itself a quiver killer.
Anyway. I think thats it. This deck is a directional board with a twin shape, its standard camber, its poppy as hell, and its never going to drop an edge. If there was one thing id change about it id give it a sintered base. But aside that, its literally what it says it is: A quiver killer*
*for people who dont give a crap about rails, boxes and buttering. Its not reallyt that kind of deck. Nor is it a quiver killer if youre going into deep powder. But for resort pow and hitting the trees, it might be.
Hope this helps you get an idea of what it is and why you maybe (dont) want it.
PS. Can read PMs but cant send them so if you want to chat about it leave your email address.
PPS. No point lowballing me dudes, i know what its worth and i aint hurting for cash (what i am hurting for is carrying a quiver killer, a bsod, a sierrascope and a charlie slasher with me to hokkaido in 3 months - this is purely a practical decision)

Everyone trusts and loves shayboarder. Heres her take on it:
http://www.shayboarder.com/2010/05/snowboard-review-10-11-capita-quiver-killer.html
(again, understand the 10/11 is the same as the 9/10 which is the same as the 08/09 food court gangsta - the tech is the same, only the graphic and the name changed)

First Impression: Its been a couple years since riding the MHT/FCG now the Quiver Killer but its still the same good consistent ride down the mountain.
Weight: Average
Flex: The quiver killer has a stiffer longitudinal flex from tip to tail which makes it a stable ride down the mountain for freeriding but you have quicker response edge to edge from the torsional flex so you can really get into each turn on the slopes. To be honest this board and camber go hand in hand, its still capable of fun with some bounce.
Turning: One of the surprises about the quiver killer is the quick edge to edge response, its a fast board to get on edge and you can pop out of one turn into the next. Once on edge its consistent, there are no surprises and it wont buck you out of a turn. Whether doing long or short radius turns, you have the control over the board and itll give you what you want out of it.
Stable: In the pipe with icy or hardpacked walls, the quiver killer holds an edge and gives you a secure ride in some sketchy spots. On the mountain, it can handle speed and the kevlar gives it more stability for charging.
Pop: Since I first rode the series, the board has pop and is alive on the mountain. Its that board you can pop ollies off the tail and get some good air with, in the pipe or in the park. Im still working on the park riding but I love the board in the pipe. I did take into the Stevens Pass park and rode some boxes with it during my time on the board. It still has some playfulness to how it handles and still pressable for the park.
Switch: The quiver killer has a directional flex so theres some adjustment to riding it switch but its not impossible to ride switch.
Overall Impression: The quiver killer is a do-it all camber board, its excellent in the halfpipe for the stiffer longitudinal flex and outside of the park you can rip on the mountain with it. It continues to be one of my favorite boards for consistency on the mountain and I love that it has camber because it suits the style of that board.
Shays Honesty Box: Ive spent a lot of time on reverse camber/rocker but going back to a camber board is a pleasure too and so I grabbed the quiver killer knowing that Id be back on a board I enjoy, consistent ride down the mountain and it was a good choice. I ended up riding it in the Holy Oly quarterpipe and it helped get me up the vert knowing I had a board underneath that was perfectly suited to it. Well see on next year how I do in the QP. |

haha, cheers for the bump ty, but i kinda changed my mind after reminding myself why i bought the thing by posting all those reviews. If anything im getting rid of the 2010 sierrascope (indoor fk collaboration made by capita for sierrasnowboard - lots of scracthes - no core shots W220,000 plus shipping). But that depends on whether or not i can get hold of that funkink when we go to seoul
Honestly if it wasnt for the fact that im not living here forever and the fact i have to walk around with three boards around hokkaido, id not get rid of any of them. |

ah sorry dude, im in niseko now with them all im afraid. It'll be another month before im back in korea. Doubt ill honestly be selling them though... maybe the scope but id feel rude selling that thing with all the scratches on the base in truth, would rather just hang onto it than get the price i reckon id be justified in asking in truth |
