when koreans boast about being a developed country becasue of the shiny facade, bright lights and smart phones, you just have to read this to see the truth. The old saying goes; 'You can paint a turd gold, but its still a turd'. Korea has a long way to go before it can call itself developed.
After working in a dog shelter and soup kitchen in korea I have seen what goes on here but this is still shocking. This is sickening to read. If only an international organisation would intervene and prosecute the people responsible for this.
and so shortly after pocketing all the red cross, relief money...

With FMD there are really only a few choices, and all involve death to the animal. No country is going to allow import of vaccinated meat.

There are far more humane ways to kill an animal than burying it alive.

Yeah, I'm generally not a huge animal rights guy (I love veal and foie gras), but I really don't see the necessity of this.

The dog shelter and the soup kitchen were separate facilities, right? Shocked

There is a lot of uneccessary cruelty here. From the way they handle animals to the way they treat those lower down the totem pole. Maybe its an army thing.

I feel for the pigs, I like them a lot, but this is just business... Killing them in any other way would drive farmers' costs up higher, and thus prices higher. You gotta weigh the pluses and minuses.

In any case, you can be outraged at this, but I think you have to be outraged by the meat/food industries in general.

Why is anyone surprised by this? It sucks, but the sudden surprise and outrage is beyond me.

Those animals were being raised for meat, they were going to die a gruesome death and be eaten, now the only difference is that they will fertilize the soil instead.

Oh, but don't you know they experience humane lives and deaths? Oh wait, nevermind.

And enrich the tap water in Paju with nutritious pig blood. Serves us right for eating meat, eh?

That story seemed awfully fan-deathy to me.
