Don't sweat it. I understand and agree. I just posted the links because someone may be interested. After all, there are some people on here who do shop at places like this and who don't blink at (wasting?)spending money on dinners at overpriced restaurants, especially at hotels.

that area is bogus...
edward kwon is trying tobe the Mario batalli or David kang of seoul.
but it aint working. that area is for Japanese tourists who are on tours.
that area will not get the walking crowds which Garusil gil, Kangnam St,Itaewon , Jongno, Isadong, Cheongdam get..
so all those boutiques who are going into those over priced realestate stores, which agents have double or tripled in price because they are telling potential restaurant owners, store owners, coffee shop owners is that "THIS IS THE NEXT CAFE STREET".. but it's not. so all those owners are going to feel the pinch. and end up paying stupid premiums to get into those stores..
In my opinion.. It's a bubble. everyone has been talking about that area for 12 years now.. we said back then ohh wait 10 years that area will be the next Itaewon.. then we said Kyungi dan will next.. NO HBC.. nothing is really happening. HBC has better potential..
well 10 years later , yes some stores have opened... but it's not taken off yet... I"ll say.. 10 years from now, after the new theatre and stuff is built and up and running and more shops have opened and closed, some of the old dirty stores and closed and renovated.. then we might see a buzz...
until then..
nothing... just an area with some stores...

They need better transportation to and from those places. What makes the other areas popular is that they are fairly easy to get there with multiple buses and a subway line close by.

They need more diversity in items for sale, but thats the problem with shopping here, isnt it. The locals arent familar with alot of brands that arent advertised on their dramas or superstar k, nor are they used to having alot of choices, or making a lot of choices. I find no matter where I go, its almost the same, from Seoul to Busan. New shopping mall? Same stores....

C.D.G. is a big brand in Japan, and when Korea gets something new, its usually from Japan, isnt it? Japanese tourists are probably the only real tourist money in Korea. and Chinese students in their universities. The locals buy cheap factory goods or soju. Its an over generalization, but I feel it rings true-ish.
