I've wondered for those that are married to Koreans girls, do you miss a girl that shares your own culture and language? A girl that can relate to you and understand your slightest attempt at humor and all of the nuances of the English language? Be honest.
Ive been dating a Korean girl for a year, and I was wondering what it would be like to take the next step maybe sometime down the road.

i've dated asian american girls, middle eastern girls, white american girls and korean girls. (i'm asian btw)

when i dated the white girls, we got along great and all, shared the same sense of humor and stuff but there was always something missing. they didn't fully grasp the culture part.

dating my korean girl now, she knows a lot of slang and is kind of hip to all of that western culture stuff, but even so, there's an american part of me that she doesn't fully grasp. there's just so so so so many cultural references that she doesn't get. so i do notice that when i'm making jokes with her, i have to dumb it down a bit.

i especially notice this when i'm hanging out with my western friends and they get all the references i'm making, and she's standing there not fully understanding what's going on.

so back to your question, do i miss it? i do at times, but i love my girl because she has her own sense of humor that actually makes me laugh, so it's not a deal breaker.

I've been out of my own culture for over 10 years. My wife and I have sort of made our own culture in our 10 years of marriage.

I have only dated asian girls since university so for about the last 5-6 years. When I came back to Australia I honestly can say I missed it though I think it was largely just them being attractive and holding a decent conversation. I got to know an absolutely beautiful aussie girl and the wierd thing was because she was so Australian compared to me with her limited experiences etc and unwillingness to try new things and accept different cultures we clashed. So no for a short moment in mylife I thought i missed it and nope not even close!

So to answer your question as someone in the same boat as you, I don't miss Western girls (Aussie girls for me) because I don't miss the culture and continue to move away from what I believe is a boring lifestyle with boring values. Sure Aussie girls would be good for a laugh but hell I laugh just as much with my gf and her strange korean friends.

But in terms of marriage I think that is a big step and I am not sure I could marry a Korean girl...... I really want to read what people say on this

Bingo

but I do see where the OP is coming from.

by marrying into a different nationality.

I mean, could of married a Korean /American and that would of sorted that out. but then she wouldn't really be half and half, she would learn one way
can't really have your cake and eat it too.
of course marrying a girl from back home, makes things easier if living back home because she has all her friends and her family, so getting together and sharing life with friends and family is larger and easier to get along .
bring your Korean wife back home means she is like your adopted orphan child. it's all about your friends and family until she settles in and makes her own NEW friends.

Do I miss it?
NO.. like MR PINK said.. I also live in some twilight zone movie. LOL

This seems to be the standard married experience. When you spend so much time w/ the same person and less time w/ your friends, you sorta enter your own little world. Not that I know from experience, just an observation.

It's not a joke, and there is plenty to miss in Western girls! It doesn't take a genius to know that a girl that shares a common culture and language is optimal is choosing a mate:

-You guys can joke with each other without any miscommunications.

-Not have to worry about dumbing down your vocabulary to be understood.

-Freely explain, describe or talk about anything you want, debate (if one should want to) on a level playing field about things like politics, current events, philosophy.

-Talk about things that only each other would culturally understand.

-Communicate with each other's families.

-Talk about that time in (America, Canada, Aus., N.Z., S.A, Eng., Ireland) when (insert major event).

and, share an overall national identity/sister/brotherhood.

....the list can go on and on.

Because you date someone from another culture doesn't mean she can't speak English and is closed-minded. Furthermore, many of these points are far from important. National identity, lol.

Why is that funny to you? It's unique, it cannot be replaced.
