The South Korea Grand Prix boss, Chung Young-Cho, has been fired due to "lax management", according to organisers.

Officials at the Korea Auto Valley Operation, the company responsible for organising the event, called an emergency meeting on Friday before firing Chung and two other officials, the Yonhap news agency has reported.

"Investors fear that the management of Chung does not guarantee success," said a source.

Park Won-Hwa, a former ambassador to South Korea in Switzerland, will replace Chung.

"This meeting is not announced within the rules," Chung said. "I asked for it to be held after we had clarification on the rules. I do not know whey they rushed."

The inaugural South Korea Grand Prix was held on October 24 last year and was won by Ferrari's Fernando Alonso.

And yet they somehow won the 'Race Promoters' award at the FIA end of year gala.

A track in the middle of nowhere, terrible facilities, and smug ajosshis bragging about 'how they accomplished in 2 years what the Europeans do in 5.'

Worst race experience ever.

Really? I had tickets but had to cancel last minute. Had a good time at a lot of the European races, though.
