The power cable on my laptop died recently. How can i check if my laptop is compatible with a Korean cable?

It's an HP Pavilion dv4-1465dx if that helps. It would be much much easier to pick up one here if it would work with my machine.

Thanks in advance!

If you live near Yongsan, bring it with you. Many of the vendors speak English, and can probably find you a same-brand cord or another that will work. I went for a camera battery charger when I lost mine, and they had several from which to choose.

IF you mean the brick itself died then take a trip to yongsan and bring the old one with you.

They will match the output for you on a generic one (with matching plug) or if you are willing to pay the price you can get a HP branded replacement one.

Generics will run 25-35k won. Branded usually run about double that.

The BEST place to look is either at the laptop places in the seon-in plaza or at the shops in the alley behind the seon-in plaza where you may be able to get a used one (same model and year and brand) for a bit less.

I live in Suwon and I'm not too familiar with the Yongsan electronics market area...can you guys give me directions from Yongsan station? Are they open on Sundays?

It would be worth the trip if i can get my laptop back up and going within a week or so.

Seon-in plaza is NOT open Sundays but there is a lot of vendors who work the front plaza or the basement of the building next door who are. Lots (but not all) of the places in the terminal building are also open on Sunday.

To get there:
1) walk out of Yongsan station doors - turn right
2) walk to the end of the plaza. If you are at e-mart you went the wrong way - turn around. Look across the tracks and you will see a big blue building. To the right of that you will see a building with a big sideways sign that says Gigabyte. That is seon-in plaza.
3) to get there, turn right and walk to the pedway over the tracks.
4) you will enter the blue building (terminal building) on the 3rd floor.
5) go down to the ground level and walk across the parking lot.
now you are at the nanjin arcade.
6) walk to the street corner with the traffic light, cross the street.
7) follow the street down the hill toward the tunnel.
Cool it will be on your left side.

Any of the places in between Yongsan station and Seon-in plaza are also places you may want to browse. They have lots of interesting electronics as well. Well worth a Saturday afternoon if you can manage it.

Thanks alot for the information!

However, it would most likely be a Sunday trip for me. I usually work on Saturdays.

I'm bookmarking this thread on my phone for reference when i make the trip up there.
