| Don't you get it? Not making any sense makes his post more organic and authentic. He's doing performance art right now. |

This 2008 piece on hipsters is a must read:

Hipster: The Dead End of Western Civilization
Weve reached a point in our civilization where counterculture has mutated into a self-obsessed aesthetic vacuum. So while hipsterdom is the end product of all prior countercultures, its been stripped of its subversion and originality. |

Wow, you seemed to have developed a real hardon for me haven't you!? Shall I paste the PM's you sent me about meeting up a few months back?
Sorry, you're not my type, gorgeous - you're bald and (I regret to say): you type fat.

I also hate hipsters. They represent everything I dislike and make me feel inferior and insecure.
F hipsters and if you're a hipster who's reading this, that means you too nerd. |
I fixed it for you.
If the last part of your rant was aimed at me, I must tell you - it worked. I have a little tear, right in the corner of my eye.
Also, I'm hardly a hipster. I'm nearly 32 years old for heaven sakes - and hardly 'cool' to begin with. What I fail to understand is how these kids can affect people to the point that they reach boiling point and post on internet forums about them. |
What???? |
What is so obscure about my post that needs translation for your pea brain? Good god, son, if you are having trouble understanding posts on internet forums then definitely don't go trying to read one of those...book things. It will all end in tears. |

Your dry wit is so biting and poignant, you should do a collaboration with Wes Anderson.
Maybe you can write for Pitchfork Magazine too.
Now let's not de-rail this thread into a pissing contest. |

| But It's all so deliciously over-complicated. This one has potential, you'll see. |

My question is...when a decent majority of the 17-25 year old demographic are sporting the hipster look and listening to so-called indie bands, how is it hip or elite anymore?
Like most subcultures, it's been co-opted by the general populace. I'm sure the original hipsters hate this, so you can at least be pleased by that. Happened to punks, happened to the hip hop subculture, happening to hipsters.
Anyway, imagine when Koreans start dressing like hipsters, as some already have, and continue to listen to their square k-pop. The poor hipsters-in-Korea! |

How many hipsters does it take to change a lightbulb?
I could tell you, but it's such an obscure number that you have probably never heard of it. |
Hipsters were changing light bulbs before it was cool.

| Hipsters are only hipsters because they fail at being attractive...both outside and in. |

The hipster scene died years ago. Anyone who still dresses like one is the equivalent of a 13 year old with a mohawk and a "Punks Not Dead" T-shirt who listens to Green Day. Now I'm off to trim my ironic beard, and listen to an Os Mutantes album while smoking a pipe and sipping Pernod. |

I still don't get what an ironic beard is. Unless someone has a legitimate ZZ Top beard.
Can I have a non-ironic beard? |

How can you tell your getting old..........
By complaining about what those good for nothing kids are doing. I feel like these people you talk about are largely a figment of your imagination in the sense that most of them are just fairly normal people who just sort of dress that way and like indie music or whatever. Most probably aren't even that judgmental, hell your judging them a lot more then they probably even notice you. |
