HI,
So my Hagwon is losing students and is most likely going to go out of business (or at least let me go) in the next couple of months.
I'm looking into finding a new job but I'm told now that I have resubmit a FBI Criminal Background check Apostilled AND a new copy Apostilled of my Diploma with a letter of release to get my E2 VISA transferred.
I thought all I needed was a LETTER OF RELEASE.
What's the deal? |

| Looks like you will need an FBI check this time. Be prepared to wait 12 weeks. |

...Then a week later immi announced they were not going to enforce it for another year.  |

But when was that? A year ago? 6 months ago? Can you tell us when you actually were told it wouldn't be enforced for another year? |

Each case is different.
Your best bet is to actually contact immigration and ask what they require for you to transfer your visa.
As a general rule:
IF they have an FBI check (with apostille) on file you won't need a new one. If you used a state check you will need to get an FBI check done. They will give you time to do it if you are released due to your school closing.
If they have a degree copy (with apostille) on file you won't need a new one. If you used your original you will need to get a photocopy with an apositlle done.

Are these guidelines based on the premise, it is the same "they"? If someone has an FBI check (with apostille) on file and a degree copy (with apostille) with Daegu, then can that person go to Seoul and feel confident "they" have both on file or is "they" only people in that area?
As an extension to this, do immigration offices talk to one another if another has the appropriate files? |

We had to do a few transfers last week.
The process it seems has changed and this is what you now have to do.
NB: You will have to contact Immi yourself. They have an English service.
The process varies for each circumstance apparently.

First you will need to have this information at hand:
ARC #
Arrival date in Korea
Exact current contract period
current school location
new contract start date
New school address
New apartment address
New School business number ( ask your new school for this )
New School hagwan establishment record ( Ask your new school for this ) 학원설립운영 등록증
You will need to call Immigration call centre on 1345
Press 2 for English
Immi will ask you for the information above.
They will then tell you which documents you will need to transfer your visa.
Documents you will need will vary between locations, arrival dates, new contract start dates.
Why they vary? No idea. They just do. |

What is NB?
Aren't you forgetting something? Like phone number.
I realize the number will be different relative to the office you call, but do all offices allow you to "press 2" and get English service? Which one/s are you referring to when you say "press 2"? |
