Also these will work on all dvd players right?

They all seem to work on my portable dvd players (i have 2 of those netbook sized dvd players). On my parents combo dvd/vcr player, 80% of them work (usually 2 out of 10 wont be recognized), but then those things already break in less than a year anyway. I've been letting people borrow dvds for years (a collection that can fill just about any request), and i've never received any complaints that they don't work. So though I can't promise you 100% for every single DVD player you encounter, I'd say the odds are 95% it'll work. Most dvd players will be able to play 100%, a few dvd players will only recognize some discs (depending on the brand of the media - which has always been name brand btw, no riteks or cheap media).

Hope that answers your questions.

Wow, super awesome collection and damn what a good price... I just wouldn't know where to put them all. Trust me, my apartment is SMALL.

On another note, to the buyer, you COULD open a small DVD rental place, and possibly profit? Laughing

Actually, since they are in dvd BINDERS, each binder holds about 250DVDs, it doesnt take up much room at all. Two bookcase shelfs. You've talked me into it. Heres a pic of my setup. Wasn't hard to find room since they are in binders.

You'll have to look at the list of movies, you can find it here:
https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AvCUxeItM2WTdGF1Sm1UYjJ2S2VmWEV5YmRybU10cnc&hl=en&authkey=CL-Xr44P

On the list, one of the categories is SUBTITLES. 99% of them have english subtitles, but I took special notice on Asian subtitles, because at the time of collecting, I lived in China, and paid attention to which movies had Chinese subtitles for Chinese friends. So many of the ones that have Chinese subtitles also have Korean, Japanese, and maybe even Thai subs, even if I failed to list it at the time. Only a couple years later did I start noting all Asian subs. So, to answer your question, some do, yes.

A friend brought to my attention that trading might work for some people too. I've been in the market for a ps3, but a wii or xbox looks fun too. I'm a huge tech geek~ (again, serious traders only please)

It's easily worth more, but your timing may be off.
I think a lot of people are on vacation or getting ready for one, so they're being cautious with their cash for the time being. I'd grab these in a minute if I wasn't doing my own vacation planning now.

1. As one poster said your timing is probaby off, as many people are on vacation, preparing for vacation, getting ready to leave Korea permanently or haven't yet got paid this month.

2. If you are really wanting to sell them perhaps you should consider selling it in parts. You said it's all in alphabetical order, so it wouldn't be that time consuming to pull them out from a list that someone sends you. As you saw 2 people offered you 100,000 won for 100 DVDs. That's pretty good. That's higher than the 175,000 won you were offered for the lot. Even if you didn't sell the rest you would still have a collection of 2080 DVDs to take with you.

3. If anyone does buy the lot and is considering selling parts of it I'd be interested in purchasing some of them. You would get back some of your cost.

You make an excellent point CP, and I totally agree with you. Let me address some of these issues:

1. Good point, selling in the middle of the month, people have probably already spent their money on other costly items. To combat this, I'll offer delayed payment. The final bid will still be on Friday, but as long as a deposit is made ASAP, the full price won't need to be paid until Feb 1st, or the soonest payday. This will only go to people that have a good history on Dave's ESL, or that live in Daejeon, so I can track them down. Wink This should help for those that need to wait until payday. Also don't forget I'm willing to trade for tech items (I especially want a ps3).

2. I could sell them in 100 batch groups, but honestly it would just take too much time, time I don't have. I'd really rather just get rid of all of this in one full sweep then spend an hour a day filling orders. It might be hard to imagine, but I can't even spare that hour a day right now, I'm just swamped.

3. I've also recommend this to some people. Perhaps a group of friends could put there money together and share the batch, then they can sell it later down the line after they've enjoyed it.

OP, maybe you're also not seeing as much interest as you might because most movie buffs/collectors already have their own extensive collections, and no-one wants duplicates.

Yep, true, and completely understandable. Then perhaps this could be of use to aspiring collectors, or just avid movie lovers/watchers.

As of Wed, Jan 19, 5:20pm, Current bid is 200,000 won + an original Nintendo DS w/R4 chip, which I'll value at 40,000 won. Next bid should be 250,000 won (or similar in value).

edit: I just want to say thank you to those who are bidding. This money will help me leave Korea and tend to some very important family matters back home. Your monetary sacrifice does not go unnoticed. Smile

Does our bid include shipping? If not, how much should we expect it to be? Considering throwing my hat into the ring, just curious as to if there are any hidden fees. (I worked for a cell phone company in the past. I hate hidden fees!) Razz No matter what, good luck selling

Good question. I had assumed it should be about 30,000won, but just in case, I'm going to go to the post-office after work (so about 4 or 5 hours from now) and get a quote. I'll reply with the estimated cost then. I think regardless of the price though, I'll pay half of shipping. The buyer only pays half, and I'll cover half. This way none of us get stuck with a large shipping bill. Sound fair?
