What is the likelihood of having a personal laptop in my elementary school in Seoul ? Will I have some sort of desk in an office style scenario, or will I be classroom based ? I am a new SMOE teacher.
Also do elementary classrooms have an interactive whiteboard/computerized screen ?
Thanks x

In my experience, regular classrooms will have a computer attached to a big screen TV.

Your English room may or may not have an interactive whiteboard / E-board but if it doesn't then it will have a big screen TV attached to your computer and close enough together that you can use the mouse without wasting too much time walking back and forth from the screen to the desk.

You should have a desk of your own in a teachers office or may have a desk in or attached to your English room.

You should have your own computer but it may have a Korean version of windows on it. IF that is the case you can ask for the IT guy to change it to the English version of windows. It is available as long as your co-teacher/handler is willing to make a phone call for you.

The computer that I was given to use was really old and had many viruses. I just bought my own laptop with Windows in English.

Your school may offer to buy you a laptop, but I wouldn't want to be responsible for the school's laptop for a year.

It's fairly rare for the school to give you a laptop. I did get a new desktop from the English zone, but despite my efforts to guard it jealously it's starting to slow down thanks to coworkers plugging their virusy USB sticks into it all the time. Poor girl.
