| Yep - that's the case. Renewed without any problems. Was told to get my docs in as soon as I could but otherwise everything was easy. |

| What if I wanted to transfer my visa to another school (staying in Korea)? |

Just emailed the RCMP a few days ago and they replied saying the application isn't even in their system. I mailed it to them using EMS from Korea October 19th! They said that they might have it, it just hasn't gone through the process yet. It looks like I definitely won't have that in time for my renewal in February! I really hope that I can just walk into immigration without it to extend my visa.
Does anyone know of the phone number for immigration? |

please stop asking this stupid question until Jan 1, 2011.
Then ask from people who are renewing their contracts. |
Well, I have been with the same school for four years and just signed my last contract. I went to immigration with the usual forms (no FBI check or apostilled degree) and had no problems. I have never submitted an FBI check nor a notarized or apostilled degree.
My contract and visa were set to end on February 28, 2011. I applied after January 1, 2011 and got my ARC card back within a week. My ARC card is now valid until March 28, 2012.
This was done in Busan. I hope everyone else has as easy of a time as I did. |

You guys are lucky. Really.
I had the misfortune to be one of the few to apply in the first week after they introduced the changes. At that point they were fascist in their inflexibility to implement this. I lost a promising job and visa on a technicality, and I had to fly home because my existing visa ran out. All on my own dime.
2 weeks later they suddenly tell everyone its OK you don't need the paperwork after all |

Try calling 1345 to speak with a counselor. |
