I was wondering if someone could help me with this.

I am transferring from a public school where I have worked for one year, to an academy position starting March 1st. My recruiter tells me the Seoul immigration office said I can't transfer my visa before Feb 14th and they will hold my passport for 5 days. But I've booked a vacation to Thailand from Feb 11th. Why would they not let me do it sooner!? Any tips on what I could do?

Thanks

They won't let you do it sooner because of sponsorship issues.

Choices:
a) Change your employment dates (March 1 is a holiday anyway).
b) Change your holiday arrangements/dates.
c) Skip leaving the country.
d) Do the transfer on your return (make sure you are back before your ARC expires).
