I've had a lot more free time since coming to Korea and now have time to explore hobbies.....what have you gotten into since coming to Korea?!

Me--learning Korean, exercise (mostly swimming), cooking, photography/photoshop (hopeful to get better soon!), crocheting (um--this takes forever, have yet to finish a scarf, ugh!), some Western TV series (never watched TV in the states....), traveling/exploring Korea (do I need to even mention this one?).....

Because I have chose to cut myself almost completely off from all reality (Dave's being one of the very few exceptions) I engage in a tremendous amount of soliloquy.

Throwing pens/pencils at increasing distances from the pen pot, to get declining success ratings, but the occasional absolute corkers that nobody happens to see.

Collecting and enjoying music from different countries. I scour around online while sitting in Korea and then hit the streets while traveling. Lots of great home grown mixed CD's in the street markets in other countries. Snagged 10 different Filipino CD's today where they thump to the beats in the market in Baclaran Manila. Gonna have to upgrade from an 80GB Ipod to the 160GB version soon.

1. Hockey history: reading up on the early origins, stories and characters of the game has been fascinating and was spurred by a shortage of live games to watch; then when streaming options improved around '06 I continued buying historical books, doing all-time drafting, conversing with historical assoc. members, becoming a real history buff about it.

2. Reading novels: my lifelong-burgeoned list has a huge dent in it thanks to a novel-a-week pace for the better part of a decade.

3. Listening to jazz: taking time to explore the development of the form, utilizing the internet, surfing from reference to reference, sampling, learning what I like and don't like to an extent I didn't think possible. It's been a real journey, crossing into other forms of music, becoming a real aficionado.

4. Beach bumming: I'm found on beaches along the southern coast and islands every other weekend all summer long and then some, from March through October actually. I read, swim, sleep, suntan, sometimes play, picnic, drink, camp, occasionally with a wingman.

5. Travelling: weekends during the cooler half of the year I have spent zipping by bus all over the peninsula but now that I have a jeep and am on Jeju my travels are more local, but still an enjoyable time consuming hobby, more rural than urban these days.

Sally- What group do you do? How is it going?

I would think it would be pretty hard to do meetup.com there. How do you go about finding the right events with the langauge barrier?

Personally, I would love to do it, but my Korean skill is not good enough to communciate with these vendors'.

Also, what if there is a certain level of liability for someone breaking the law or bieng lewd, while in a Korean facility? I know this was an ongoing issue for awile with most of these foreign meetup groups' ( espically in cases where there was enhanced substances readily available). Have you ever experieced this problem with any of the members in your group?

I like to ride the subways and get off at random locations and then walk around for a few hours listening to podcasts.

Sometimes I go to Express Bus Terminal after work on Friday and hop on a random bus out of town.

Vandalizing obscure Wikipedia articles and seeing how long my revisions last.

My knitting skills have increased dramatically. My current project has me juggling 4 balls of yarn on 2 needles to make 2 pair of socks at one time. I like a challenge. I'm also taking a yoga class and I lie around on my heated floor with my cat. Bringing her to Korea was one of the best decisions ever.
