I live in Seoul right now. I have been offered a job in Bucheon which will start in March. I have all the documents I need for a visa transfer. When I start my new job i will live in Bucheon.
Which office, Incheon or Bucheon, should I go to for the visa transfer? |

Well, I don't know about Seoul, but Bucheon doesn't have an immigration office. For all my Bucheon job-relation immigration stuff, I've gone to the Incheon immigraton office near Dongincheon station. |

Everyone I know in Bucheon has gone to the Incheon office but I live much nearer the Seoul office so it would be better for me to go to Seoul. |

It will depend on which office's jurisdiction your place of employment will fall under. You'd better call and ask. |

If you go to the wrong immigration office they'll just tell you to go to the right one. |

Yeah, I hoped i wouldn't have to wake up too early to go to Incheon.
Anyway, I phoned the immi hotline and they told me I could go to the Seoul office. I wanted another opinion so I contacted my new employer who told me I should go to the Incheon office.
I will go to Incheon.
Is it possible to transfer a visa that was originally acquired in the Seoul office to the Incheon office? I would phone immi but they don't know their arse from their elbow.
Also, thanks for all the help. |

In 2009, I got a multiple entry visa through the Uijeongbu office. Then shortly after I received the passport, a school in Ilsan and I decided not to start the contract. I found an Incheon job and went to the Incheon immigration office. Since the visa was already extended, I didn't need to give my passport. They just updated the ARC card and added a change of location stamp/sticker in my passport. I walked out with both 20 minutes later. |

The Immigration Offices I've been to in Korea have always been good and not staffed by personnel trying to make points and tangle the foreigner up in bureaucracy. However, I've heard that Suwon Immigration office has a few problems in this respect, don't know if it's true. |

Whatever address will go on your ARC should determine which immigration office. |

If your employment is in Bucheon the immigration office with jurisdiction over Bucheon is the Incheon office. |
