If you haven't seen every episode of both The Wire and The Sopranos yet then you need to take a long hard look at your life and get on it. I've heard nothing but good things about Breaking Bad too.

Arrested Development is probably the best thing America ever did to comedy, if you haven't already seen it.

Peep Show is a brilliantly funny British comedy that's been running for about 6 seasons, would be interested in seeing how well the humour translates.

Oh, maybe the evil rulers mum... she's the only old woman in the cast.

Yep, that's her. It actually made me think of something though. If she is Anna's mother, then the story actually takes place in the same world as the 1983 miniseries. So, 25 years ago, alien visitors came to Earth and turned out to be evil, rat-eating, lizard people who wanted to farm all of Earth for human meat, they were defeated by the humans and sent packing, and now everyone has completely forgotten about it and welcomed the aliens back to earth. I detect a giant plot hole.

If you're going to watch a science fiction show based on an older, cheesier sci-fi property, go with Battlestar Galactica.

I've watched the entire series and I do agree that no other sci fi can compare. It was brilliantly done and had an excellent cast. I'm still watching V though because I love cheesy sci fi!

I'm going to check out the Walking Dead and some of the other shows mentioned. I watched the first episode of The Mentalist and it just didn't interest me. Does it get any better later in the series?

No love for Criminal Minds in terms of crime dramas? I personally like the profiling of the murderer over how the person was murdered.

I would say that Spartacus, Fringe, lost and survivor are a waste of time (no offense, just my opinion). I could watch Sopranos again and again (and I will). Also, Deadwood is pretty awesome. Those are a little dated by now, though. I love The Office, but as has been said, the early seasons are better. That's what she said.
Underbelly is not completely horrible. House is good. CSI rocks (the original, especially the first few seasons). For a guilty pleasure, I don't mind White Collar. A bit of mindless fun. I've heard that The Wire is awesome, too, but until it's done downloading I can't say for sure. Lastly, if you are looking for something out of left field, I used to love an old Aussie show called Good Guys, Bad Guys. It's not classic TV, but it's good for a laugh.

Wasnt the best series, but still a cut above most other comedies and worth d.loading

I've heard good things about Mad Men and Glee's first season was good, but I sorta think it's annoying now, but I might dl a few more episodes because Jane Lynch is still funny.

A few years back, a friend loaned me a Canadian series called Trailer Park Boys that had a lot of hillarious, but sorta lowbrow humor. It would be cool if some folks from places other than the US could clue us in on some interesting movies and shows.

Currently rewatching the old BBC adaptation of I, Claudius. The sets are a bit dated but it's still a good production.

I tried getting into Mad Men - its had so many rave reviews, and has already been put into many critics "greatest ever" lists.

I dont know how much is airheaded hype and how much is genuine, but i watched the first four or so episodes and it really didnt engage me.. and i found the characters annoying whihc never helps!

Some shows do take several episodes to get into, however, plus im relatively fickle and easily swayed by rave reviews, so im going to give it another go soon..

I agree with Criminal Minds and White Collar and would like to throw out Big Bang Theory. It's a little cheesy at times and Penny is kind of annoying, but Sheldon just cracks me up!

Oh, and Glee has DEFINITELY gone downhill this season. I still watch it, but it's not the same.

I was reminded of the highly under-rated and sadly short-lived Pushing Daisies.

It was immensely beautiful and sincere.

Here's a clip from the first episode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQXwwjUc6x8
Obviously with a nicer copy you can better appreciate the fine cinematography, watch it!

I also watch all my tv on the laptop. Give veetle.com a look. You can't choose the programming, but there's tons of streams with great quality.
