| You have quite the obession with debt, as if being debt free is a good thing. |
You brought it up as a claim to their great position in life, it was a lie.
***NO. THEIR GREAT CLAIM LIFE IS THAT THEY MAKE A LOT OF MONEY IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY BECAUSE THEY WORKED THEIR BUTTS OFF TO BECOME ENGINEERS, PHARMACISTS, ETC WHEN THEY WERE IN SCHOOL, AND WILL NEVER GO OVERSEAS AS THEY'RE ALREADY MAKING PLENTY OF MONEY IN THEIR HOMELAND. DEAL WITH IT.***
What I have a problem with is the number of people here who need to outright lie to try and build up someone's position in life.
***WHAT I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IS YOU CALLING ME A LIAR FOR THE THIRD TIME IN THE ROW. TAKE IT TO PM, BIG BUY***

| You're sidestepping everything I'm saying, and just talking about debt like a bank teller from the 1950s who has never owned business, house, or taken out a business loan. |
yes, because you've already proven that you'll lie to make a point, why should anyone give a toss about the rest of it?
***YOU MISSED THE POINT. THE POINT WAS THIS: YOU'RE NOT A DOCTOR, DENTIST, ENGINEER, SCIENTIST, CPA, PHYSICAL THERAPIST, ETC, AND YOU DON'T OWN A LOT (OR ANY) BUSINESSES EITHER. YOU KEEP TALKING ABOUT DEBT LIKE A MAN WHO NEVER MADE A LOT OF MONEY IN YOUR OWN COUNTRY, WHICH IS WHY YOU WENT OVERSEAS IN THE FIRST PLACE: TO MAKE (RATHER SAVE) MORE THAN YOU CAN IN YOUR OWN COUNTRY, WHETHER ITS ESL IN KOREA OR SOMETHING ELSE SOMEWHERE ELSE WHERE YOU DON'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH RENT OR A CAR. THAT IS THE POINT. AGAIN THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS, BUT MOST PEOPLE COME TO KOREA SHORT TERM OR LONG TERM BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO REAL MONEY AND CAN'T MAKE ANY REAL MONEY BACK HOME. THE END.***
You think you've got all kinds of insight into the majority of people here, but you don't. Even though a fair number of people come here, there are over 20,000 people here on E-2s alone, not counting E-1s, and F-4s teaching English. You don't remotely have a clue what makes the majority of people tick, what their plans are, or what they're doing. |
***BLAH BLAH BLAH BORING...THERE ARE SOME QUALITY TEACHERS WITH LICENSES WHO CAN'T GET JOBS BACK HOME SINCE THE ECONOMY IS BAD, AND MOST OF THE REST HAVE LIBERAL ARTS DEGREES. MOST OF THE REST. THEM IS THE FACTS. I KNOW WHAT MAKES YOU TICK: TALKING ABOUT DEBT ALL THE TIME. I TAUGHT IN KOREA FOR A FEW YEARS, I'VE GOT ALL KINDS OF INSIGHTS, I MET AND TALKED TO A HELLUVA LOT OF PEOPLE. THEY ALL NEED THE MONEY TO MAKE THEIR PLANS WORK, BE IT INVESTING, SAVING, GETTING READY FOR GRAD SCHOOL, ETC, WHICH IS WHY THEY CAME TO KOREA; RIGHT?***

Caps lock is on your left. You've got some serious self control issues, lying, anger, etc.
Are they really making a lot of money if they're only saving a few hundred a month?

Why? you got something to hide?
Stop lying and trying to excuse it away and I won't call you a liar.

Again, you have absolutely no idea what I am or why I'm overseas and I can tell you that you couldn't be further off the mark, but good try. Keep raging though, it really drives home your point. |

1) So just because Koreans have a better healthcare system they automatically have better lives? Living in an apartment, 2 1/2 years mandatory military sevice, 60-80 hour work weeks, indentured slaves to their bosses, highest rate of abortion, alcohol consumption, and tobacco use of any modern country and highest suicide rate as well. Speaks for itself...
2) Everyone has to start at the bottom and work their way up. 25 and 30 year old people don't have or make a lot of money, but 45 and 50 year old people usually do. That's the way of the world. |
1) Actually, yes -- one of the major factors in quality of living is the affordability of health care. The average work-week here is no longer 60-80 hours, it is down to 45 -- still about 9 more a week than in the US, but not 20-40 more.
(Source: http://www.everydaymoney.ca/2010/05/south-korea-dwarfs-canada-in-hours-worked-per-year.html )
The "indentured slaves" bit is hyperbolic BS -- neither Koreans nor the ESL teachers are working under such conditions...though they certainly exist here for illegal 3D workers, just as the same holds true of illegal 3D workers in the US.
The murder rate in the US more than makes up for the suicide rate, as does the difference in crime rate, both violent and property.
I do not get why you think the abortion rate is somehow inversely correlated to the quality of life -- more women feel free to exercise their choice over what happens to their own bodies is a bad thing?
Alcohol and tabacco consumption? The US has a lung cancer mortality rate of 321.9 per 100,000, while South Korea has a lung cancer mortality rate of 65.4 per 100,000...so the smoking thing is still worse in the US...not even going to bother with the drinking thing....
(numbers for both are from 2004 -- sources:
http://www.nationmaster.com/country/us-united-states/hea-health
http://ije.oxfordjournals.org/content/27/3/365.abstract )
2) Yes...but you are comparing the 40-50 year olds in the US to the 25-30 year olds here, which is why I pointed it out to you.... |
