He was a total embarassment. I feel sorry for any Brits that watched that with people from other countries. |

On one hand, it's good that he stuck it to the self-absorbed rich and famous Hollywood types. On the other hand though, the way he did it wasn't particularly clever or witty.
I've always been a bit undecided about Ricky Gervais. The Office was good, and Extras had a few laughs, but since then I get the feeling he's just been milking it for all it's worth. |

He won't be back next year. He had a good run, but his schtick is paper-thin and has run its course. |

i enjoyed those clips, some of the jokes missed or were obvious, but some were real funny, liked that he didnt mind too much about offending ppl
loved the office, and really enjoyed extras. i really liked his first two standups as well (Animals, and Politics - dont bother with Fame or Science)
since then, hes become a media personality. and the more you see of him, the more you realise, he is david brent.. the office was just ricky gervais playing himself!
his humour now has become, "im a smug git, and im going to let you know about it"
but, if he coems out with a new tv series, ill probably watch it. equally, i really enjoyed An Idiot Abroad, but thought ricky gervais ruined it by cackling down the phone every 10 minutes. |

I enjoyed it. But Hollywood does not reward honesty. |

he is funny... but insulting people for laughs is old and amateur. |

RG is obnoxious and his humor is desperate, not witty. That said, the self-congratulations and ego stroking that Hollywood stars have come to expect does need to be checked on occasion. RG did his best. |

I don't feel sorry for Hollywood's hurt feelings, but RG defnitely made some enemies that night. The cameras panned some of the faces in the audience like Johnny Depp, the Steve Buscemi and they didn't look comfortable with the whole thing. |

The whole Ricky Gervais thing bothered me - not because he was shocking, or offensive, or sticking it to the Hollywood elite, but because it was the top item in my country's newspapers that day.
I mean, really?
Surely there are more newsworthy things going on than a comedian taking a crack at some of Hollywood's more overblown egos. |

Brilliant show, but you could see how hard Ricky was trying to make Karl seem funny...almost like a forced laugh track at some points, and totally unnecessary. The guy is comedy gold all on his own. |

I don't know much about Ricky Gervais. He has really done a lot coming into the American consciousness in the past year it seems.
I will say, I LOVE The Ricky Gervais Show on HBO. I am a big fan of podcasts in general and animating them is especially entertaining. However, of the three hosts, I think he is the most expendable. Karl Pilkington doesn't need Ricky. Ricky needs Karl, to be sure! |

Love him or hate him he did whatever he wanted to. He said he was surprised he was invited back and didn't expect to anymore and according to him doesn't care so its not like he's regretting it. I saw an interview with him and he has no regrets. So, in that respect, I admire him. I cringed at some of the jokes but that's what he wanted. He could care less what people thought. |

I bought all of the Ricky Gervais Show audiobooks off iTunes.
The comedic threesome of Gervais, Merchant and "I could eat a knob at night" Pilkington has made me listen all the way through them more than twice and I know I will keep listening to them again the future.
The early stuff is better. |
