I am between jobs at the moment, and I have a lot of free time. As such I have decided that I would like to learn as much about excel as possible. Would any of you be able to recommend a website that provides detailed explanations on how to use excel. I am also willing to buy a book on excel if you can recommend a good one. Thank you. |

you can try www.chandoo.org
excel books are like accounting books, thick, initmidating, and belaboring the obvious; learning by doing is better.
what may be a good idea is to look for books on the topic your are interested in: budgeting, financial engineering, solving pde's and look for titles which say "XXX using excel", this way your boredom threshold is not reached before you learn to do interesting stuff
Best of luck. |

Sounds like a waste of time. What's the point so you can make graphs showing where all your money goes and why your broke and live month to month all your life?
Keep your ear to the grindstone! |

Yeah, book on excel is useless. What's your level of excel right now and what sort of stuff do you want to do? Budgeting? Financial models? Just learn the basics? |
