Sorry for the legalese I'll try to put in more plain English next time so that you may be able to better comprehend it. |

You just randomly copied and pasted. (Quite poorly, I might add. What are those random characters?) Where's your source? |

Jay walking is also illegal in the United States. So is discrimination. But women make less than men, short people make less than tall people. It is good that these laws are in place, but laws can only do so much. |

Check this out...

A private study posted on www.blogspot.com in 2007 studied the effects of age discrimination in the South Korean ESL market place. The study involved posting on numerous Internet job sites the resumes of several men and women who shared an average appearance, education, experience, native country and skin color. The only thing that varied between them was their age. Information was then gathered based upon the number of email responses returned for each prospective teacher. The results clearly showed that the number of job offers was directly related to the teachers age, regardless of experience or other factors. The full study can be viewed at.... |
http://esldaily.blogspot.com/2007/12/age-discrimination-in-esl-market-place.html |
That study is such a load of B.S. Seven subjects is such a small sample that it is statistically insignificant. Secondly 2 weeks is such a short time range that it is again statistically insignificant. Thirdly there is no reason to suppose that all the same employers saw the same resumes. If you have 50 employers and 10 see one resume and 40 see another...who do you think is going to get more responses regardless of age?
But the study did not note this or other reasons for getting the result that it did. Which is the last reason as to why this study is garbage...it was designed to clearly show age discrimination no matter WHAT the statistics show. Again with such a limited sample range both with subjects and time...one can manipulate the data to suit the pre-determined belief.
Basically it's nonsense and can be dismissed as such. It has no place in a serious discussion. |

All of the recruiters that I have ever spoken to have asked me how old I was. If this law were being enforced, they would not continue to ask this question.
If there were a government agency assigned to enforce these laws, it would not be hard to find out about discrimination practices. All they would have to do is to begin inquiring about job opportunitie and then slap some fines on offenders who ask the age of potential applicants. The government could earn a bit of money this way. |

The law also states that running red lights, prostitution and child molestation are illegal. Still... |

In other words..laws in Korea are only enforced when..:
a) if it is necessary to look good for the international community
b) if it is to the advantage of the head of police for some reason
c) if the public mood explicitly demands it
d) if the police want to make an example out of someone
e) if it is a foreigner that has transgressed said laws
f) if the lawbreaker concerned fails to pay extortion money.
lol. |

The whole thing boils down to a crowded market.
This country is swamped with English teachers because of the recession.
The Koreans can afford to be selective.
In five years, the situation may change. |

Not really but you are hammering down on a nail that is now so far down into the wood that it is coming out the other end.
You posted about this law...great.
You were shown there are holes in the legal text and that it is hard to enforce...excellent because it clarifies things.
You keep hammering on about it...not so great.
Hence my sarastic reply but feel free to take up the sledge hammer as that nail could use more pounding... |

Awwwwww how amusing. Look this is an attempt at baiting and at trying to be insulting by calling us Koreans.
Keep trying, you may get better at it.
