Are most foreigners here in Korea qualified to teach at a Korean university for top pay?

No.

Except for those who also speak Korean and have substantial academic qualifications nobody wants to give you top jobs and top dollar at a university.

Most of us fill a gap that Koreans can't fill fully- fluent English ability. That's it.

So what? There is a niche, that you pointed out, for which we are qualified. If we had other qualifications, we'd be filling a different niche.

When your niche can be filled by any university grad from any English speaking country you have to expect lower pay.

Yes.So what?Ive never argued that we deserve equal pay. That is just stupid. We have lower qualifications and deserve lower pay. I think thats logical.

We are however qualified to teach there because there is a niche that only we can fill.

Yes Laughing Laughing

Actually I feel that some people think that foreigners who work at universities here deserve to get tenure, higher salaries, career opportunities etc. and why?

Because they speak English, have a Masters in any field, work there five years consecutively.........

Get a PhD., publish a good book, learn Korean, and then maybe you will get your 5 million per month and tenure.

Do you think those qualifications would be enough? Foreigners are heavily discouraged from gaining a professorial position.
Look at the Visa Regulations
Visa -- http://www.moj.go.kr/immi/08_english/02_business/e_1.html
E-1(Professors)
This category applies to foreigners who, as qualified individuals specified by the Educational Law, wish to instruct special fields of study or engage in the guidance of research at junior colleges or higher educational institutions, or the institutions corresponding to such levels.
In the case of a national or a public University, a foreigner is not permitted to be a full-time professor.

I heard that if you have the E-1 visa, the customs and immigration people have to salute you when you're leaving the country.

It is not exactly an honorific salute. It is a minor exercise of one of the fingers. Guess which one.

How did you know? You must be a professor. It reminds me of Austin Powers and Dr. Evil.
