If I go home and decide to return a few months later would I have to go to Chicago again for the interview? I live in Cleveland and am not looking forward to another 600 mile 6 hour drive  |

But for 149 dollars, you can be there and back in a few hours. Pay up you tight fisted septic git! 
Short arms and long pockets is something your Stockport grandparents would have said as well as 'you are as tight as a ducks arse'
Taking money out of your wallet is not the same as bleeding to death you know.

I heard if you've had an E2 in the past, then you are not required to have an interview. However, I was required to have an interview at the Washington DC field office. They said they are requiring everyone to do an interview regardless of past visas or not.
It might vary by field office. |

If you have previously held and E2
AND
You do NOT have a derogatory record with immigration (overstay, illegal work, etc)
then you do NOT need an interview for a new visa.
IF you did have a comment (immigration infraction) in your immigration file then you will need another interview.

I do not have a comment in my file. I am sure of it.
They told me that they required an interview with every E2 regardless. After being told this my wife cited the Korean immigration website and they still required it. It wasn't until my school called them personally, that they backed off the requirement. (This was August)
I would have come on an F2 but apparently you can't get one from abroad. And my school needed me to teach right away and didn't want me to teach on a tourist visa while we waited for the F2 to process. (Rightfully so, because it is illegal)
So, yeah the rule is you shouldn't have to do an interview, but you might if your particular office is being a PITA for whatever reason. |
