Ok, so I have been accepted, now just the nervous wait for the NOA, contract etc.

Assuming it all comes together eventually I have a number of questions:

- how long is orientation and what are the hours(I'm guessing weekends are irrelevant)?
- when do you discover which school and level you got?
- how soon after beginning at the school does one begin actually teaching classes?
- when do teachers receive their textbooks for the year (it would be handy to get a bit of time with them to formulate something of a game-plan)?
- how many lesson plans per week are usually needed , or do you generally just re-teach the same lesson to different classes throughout the week?

I know I had many more questions before I began writing this, but that is all I can think of at the minute. I understand these are very general questions and the answers will vary greatly from school to school, but some general answers would be greatly appreciated!

The numbers were mine for clarity.

1) 5-7 days. Orientation during the days (morning and afternoon) and often a "cultural event" or some social activity in the evening.

2) Sometime between day 2 and 5.

3) depends on the school. In some cases you start with the opening of school. In other cases you can spend up to a week or two just warming your desk.

4) If you are lucky, the day you arrive at your school. If you are unlucky, you never will.

5) Depends on how many schools you are going to. If you are assigned to one big school you may only prepare 3-4 classes and repeat them all week. If you are going to a number of smaller schools you could end up creating 6-8 plans (with minor variations for individual classes) and repeating them.

IF you are asked to do an after school program you can add as many as 6 more plans per week to the mix.
