Spitzer interviews Rand Paul. What can be said about Spitzer.. He's got a TV show. |
Rand Paul did a great job handling Spitzer.
Spitzer comes across as an arrogant, ignorant ass, trying to score personal points. He failed totally. He's the kind of fascist-socialist partisan boob that has caused the nation's problems. What a douchebag.
This interview made me like Rand Paul enough, for the first time, to actually support him. |

The War Party vs. Rand Paul
...
The movement of which Rand Paul is a leader has the potential to turn American politics and American conservatism upside down, and pull off a fundamental political realignment in this country. No amount of smears and jeers from the upholders of the status quo is going to stop them, at this point: only they can stop themselves, by failing to follow through on the bright promise of their pledge to cut the American State down to its proper and constitutionally-mandated size both at home, and abroad.

So it's a battle between the neo-cons and a more libertarian version of the paleo-cons. It's a battle for the right.
I'm interested to see if self-described liberals in the media support a peaceful man leading a peaceful movement or if they throw poop at Paul and support the neo-cons.
Can Rand inspire whites to depart from warmongering? Would he opposing attacking Iran? |

Rand Paul's plan to cut $500 billion in one year
He makes Paul Ryan look like a damned amateur fiscal conservative.
Here's a .pdf of the details
The defense cuts are too timid, and I would keep food stamps. Liberals will freak about the deep education cuts, but frankly, Paul is right, education shouldn't be a Federal initiative. He eliminates the Dept of Energy completely. He rightfully digs deep into Homeland Security, which is basically money wasted. HUD is gone. The Dept of Interior is almost glutted. Foreign aid is cut drastically. The Dept of Transportation is halved. I won't go on, there's a lot in there.
This is inspiring. |

I think the proposal says to reduce food stamps, not eliminate them. I think he goes a little overboard with some of the cuts, but I definitely agree with significantly cutting back on GSA and OPM. GSA definitely doesn't need to exist.
Anyway, he can be so dramatic and drastic because he knows it won't go anywhere. |

Well, then he should definitely be suggesting more defense cuts. Doesn't he support closing hundreds of bases around the world? |

Paul Favors Cutting Aid to Israel
I can support that!

Well he also probably doesn't want to look "weak" either. |

Yes, let's hope it is just for appearance's sake. |

| Rand Paul is not a neo-con. Kuros was right that he was playing to an audience and hiding his real-con positions. |

http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/u-s-democrats-and-pro-israel-lobbies-slam-republican-senator-s-call-to-halt-israel-aid-1.339662
| Quote: |
Pro-Israel Jewish lobby J Street issued a statement in response to Paul's comments saying it was alarmed by his suggestion.
Senator Pauls proposal would undermine the decades-long bipartisan consensus on U.S. support for Israel. Any erosion of support should concern Israels friends on both sides of the political aisle, and we call in particular on leaders and donors in Senator Pauls party to repudiate his comments and ensure that American leadership around the world is not threatened by this irresponsible proposal," the statement issued by J Street read.
National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) President and CEO David Harris also condemned his statement saying that Paul's suggestion is negligent, shortsighted, and just plain wrong, adding that foreign aid in general, and aid to Israel in particular, is crucial to Israel's security and its pursuit of peace. Senator Paul's statement is yet another illustration of how the Republican Party continues to grow increasingly out of touch with the values of the vast majority of the American Jewish community."
Congresswoman Nita Lowey, Ranking member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on State and Foreign Operations, called the initiative shocking.
Israel is the only democratic nation in the Middle East and one of our most stalwart allies, Lowey said. A stable and secure Israel is in our national security interest and has been a staple of our foreign policy for more than sixty years. Using our budget deficit as a reason to abandon Israel is inexcusable. It is unclear to me whether Rand Paul speaks for the Tea Party, the Republican Party, or simply himself.
Meanwhile, Republican Jewish Coalition Executive Director Matthew Brooks issued a statement saying "we share Senator Paul's commitment to restraining the growth of federal spending, but we reject his misguided proposal to end U.S. assistance to our ally, Israel."
"Moreover, based on his comments in an interview with CNN, we are concerned that Senator Paul may not grasp the fundamentals of our alliance with Israel. In 2007, the U.S. and Israel signed a ten-year 'Memorandum of Understanding' (MoU) to govern U.S. assistance going forward. A critical aim of the MoU was to preserve Israel's qualitative military advantage. Accordingly, any concern that U.S. assistance might undermine Israel's security is groundless," Brooks said. |
Such arrogance. I hope Paul doesn't back down.
Nita Lowey says Israel is one of America's best buddies. According to former Mossad officer Victor Ostrovsky, in his book The Other Side of Deception Israel planned the assassination of George H.W. Bush:
| Quote: |
| Since the Mossad had all the security arrangements in hand, it would not be a problem bringing the killers as close as they wanted to President Bush and then staging his assassination. In the ensuing confusion, the Mossad people would kill the perpetrators, scoring yet another victory for the Mossad. With the assassins dead, it would be difficult to discover where the security breach had been, except that several countries involved in the conference, such as Syria, were regarded as countries that assisted terrorists. |
The book is available on any torrent site. Anybody who is interested in America's #1 bestest friend ever should give it a read. |

Another must-read for such people is The Hidden History of Zionism by Ralph Schoenman, available at Amazon or can be read in its entirety online. |

Gwen Ifill interviews Rand Paul.
I'd love to know to which Kentucky University President he was talking. Democrats hate that he wants to cut foreign aid. They say it'll hurt our image abroad. I think that's ridiculous, does anyone here hold a higher opinion of America because of our foreign aid to Israel or Egypt or even to impoverished countries in Africa? Foreign aid is entirely discretionary. |

Foreign aid is such a red herring. The amount is not even a drop in the coean and is only an issue because of an ignorant populace who thinks we give something like 25% of the federal budgt to other nations.
It's clear where the cuts need to be made and it really isn't that freaking hard (but yes, I know the political difficulties in making the required spending cuts and tax increases). |

Rand Paul Mocks Newt Gingrich: He Has More War Positions Than He Has Wives
Potential GOP presidential contender Newt Gingrich has been in hot water lately after ThinkProgress caught him flipping his position on the Libyan war rapidly over the span of just a few weeks, indicating that his positions on foreign policy are more driven by politics than principle. Last night, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) spoke at the Congressional Correspondents Dinner. At one point, Paul referenced these flip-flops by Gingrich to criticize both his politically driven foreign policy positions and his infidelity to his wives. Paul also poked fun at Fox News, saying that it is having a hard time deciding what it likes more, bombing the Middle East or attacking President Obama, in deciding its opinion on Libya:
PAUL: I was happy to see that Newt Gingrich has staked out a position on the war, a position, or two, or maybe three. I dont know. I think he has more war positions than hes had wives. [...]
Theres a big debate over there. Fox News cant decide, what do they love more, bombing the Middle East or bashing the president? Its like I was over there and there was an anchor going, they were pleading, cant we do both? Cant we bomb the Middle East and bash the president at the same time? How are we going to make this work? |
I like it. |
