As far as cheap tix depends when you're going. If it's next week you're traveling in NE asia you won't get cheap tickets anywhere. If it's in April or some kind of offpeak time then do a search here. Cheap travel agent and cheap online tix must be one of the most regularly sighted threads in the travel forum. Expedia and co. are fine.
As far as hotels try the Toyoko chain. They are scattered all over Tokyo (and the country for that matter). Last visit I stayed in one on Shinjuku and it was uber clean, around 60 bucks a night, passable English, free internet in the lobby, included breakfast etc.

They will also honor reservations without a credit card payment made in advance. Have fun, it's one of the world's great cities. |

Cheaptickets.com is generally better than Expedia. 700 GBP is way more than you should have to pay. |

Try flying into Haneda. I think it's an easier trip in Tokyo compared to Narita. Tickets to Tokyo are rarely cheap though. I usually buy my tickets through ANA.
I think I remember someone saying that Japan has some low-cost airlines that offer deals on domestic flights if you buy early enough. "Deal" is relative though as Japan is pretty expensive, especially if you're used to Korean prices. |
