Hey everyone

I'll be in Taipei for 설날 from Feb 2nd to Feb 6th. However, minus the night markets, eating, drinking, and maybe a bit of shopping, I'm unsure what to do.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks

Tom

Beitou hot springs - easy to get to (on the subway line)
Wu Feng Pu is a good shopping market
Shilin is the famous night market

near Taipei 101, there are a lot of other cool buildings, and it's a nice sight at night.

for me, I indulged in food that isn't available where I live in Korea. This included an amazing all-you-can eat vegetarian place at Taipei Main Station (2nd floor has a ton of restaurants).

near taipei 101, there are these big department stores (i can't remember names but someone will point you to them)... if you go to the basement there's a big dining area. they have this cool concept - they give you a menu that includes food from ALL restaurants in the food court and area. it's bilingual, and you can indulge and try many things.

Have a blast! I loved Taiwan. Taipei is a great city, easy to navigate. People are nice and friendly. Most speak English well, and those who don't won't shoo you off and WILL try to communicate with you as much as they can. U also won't get stared at, at all Smile

PS, the latest Lonely Planet guide is extremely outdated.
