Due to family reasons we are moving to Korea, I qualify for an F2 Visa and have accommodation already.
I can teach privately in the sense I already have friends wanting me to tutor their children and there seems no end to that, Ideally some permanent p/t work would be good.
I was an Outdoors instructor for many years teaching all ages and now I mainly teach Adults in a Construction environment (trade skills).
I am well qualified for what I do but I have no real experience teaching English and I do not have a degree.
I have been looking at courses in Korea where I can learn English teaching skills but I'm not sure which ones are better than others.
I can't see how speaking English makes me an English teacher but it seems like it can be lucrative work.
Can anyone recommend any courses that may be better than others, thinking word of mouth, personal experience's etc...preferably Uijeongbu sort of area but or even maybe just general advice that could help. |

If you have no degree, you will have trouble teaching English officially at a school. The F2 is a residency visa but, unless things changed you still need to meet the E2 requirements to actually teach.
Your best bet: contact immigration or have your wife contact them and ask them directly.
Good luck. |

You are right, you need a degree to teach at a public school or a teaching qualification recognized and relevant to the position your applying for. , I'm not sure about private schools, The schools I've talked to it's more of "how much do you?" and "when can you start?" my understanding is that you can tutor as much as you want as long as you pay taxes and are not issuing a qualification, which is where I think the private schools come in.
I was looking at this course, has anyone had any experience with them?, its seems a bit more hands on than others but way more expensive.

Teaching is illegal without a degree.
Having said that, with an F2, a white face and the ability to speak English you would probably be able to get a job in most hagwans (especially out in Uijeongbu and regions close to you).
IF you get caught (virtually no chance on an F2 - immigration doesn't care and the MOE almost never checks) you would get fired and possibly fined. Your boss would get fined. (MOE violation)
You would find another job tomorrow and go back to work.
IF you were caught it might complicate your F5 application in the future but nothing disastrous would come of it.
