|
|
Hi folks,
Unlike many people on here who are desperate to simply OBTAIN their criminal record checks, I have been fortunate enough to get my federal RCMP check in time for my job.
Now I need to get it verified. The check is from Ontario (Toronto's jurisdiction), but my last address was Newfoundland (Montreal's jurisdiction). So I send the check to Montreal, along with my fiance's documents. They verified everything EXCEPT my background check, because it's from Ontario. I could swear they verified an identical Ontario check last year for me.
Can I send the background check to a friend in Toronto, have that person walk in with the it, get it verified, and send it me? Or do I have to go in person - which would be impossible...
Anyone have experience with this? I know the Toronto consulate sucks.
Thanks. |

I just talked to the Korean Embassy in Ottawa and they said the Vulnerable Sector Search is not needed.
They had not heard of the Canadian Embassy in Seoul being able to authenticate a CBC. But they couldn't rule it out either. Guess we need both the Embassy and Immigration to confirm this.
I have heard that there is a current amnesty on needing the new documentation. My school got this info. from the ministry. The problem is that since it basically amounts to bureaucrats ignoring a low, it can't be 100% official and no one knows how long the amnesty will last. So essentially you need to race like hell to get your new docs. If you can't get them on time, you might still be allowed to extend. But you are playing russian roulette with your VISA if you don't have them. And the later in the year you have to renew, the more chance the amnesty will be canceled by that time. |

I'm mid summer. Wonder if the "grace period" will continue all through 2011? |

Bump.
Still hoping to hear from anyone who has personal experience with getting documents verified by a 3rd party in Toronto. In fact, if you have experience with any embassy/consulate in this regard, I'd be happy to hear how it worked out.
First, is this a common/accepted practice at the Toronto embassy?
Second, what documents are required for a CRC verification?
Third, what's the turnaround time? I'm assuming it's in and out, but I've learned not to assume anything about Korean visa documents.
Thanks. |
