Lunar New Year, Seolnal, is Wed. Thurs and Fri. So, we only work Mon and Tues. I thought this was the same for everyone. No? It's a national holiday.

OP sounds like a cry-baby fairy.

It took you 4 years to realize that people discriminate?

Grow a pair of nads or go home.

Keep your ear to the grindstone!

Yes, the only racism allowed here is that against Koreans or Arab/Persians.

I take it you are a white man? Well, you know and I know that not that long ago - not ancient history - a black person in your part of the world would have got lynched just for trying to romance a white woman. Today it still isn't perfect - Affirmative Action is just a token attempt at catch up - it will never balance out because of people like you.

Just think of the 300 or so years that white people benefited from 'affirmative action' (in everything but name) in the Southern eastern parts of the United States - and you are complanining about this?

And the 'moronic' statement, I dare you to list your qualifications for teaching English! Wink Another one over here because his crappy liberal arts degree couldn't get him that sales job back home.

Hey there Snowflake,

No need to exhibit racism here.

Wake up and smell the f'ing 커피, this f'ing happens everywhere.

Are you serious? Are you that bored? You obvisously need to leave Korea for a bit of time (or forever). I have my days as well but I would never post something this stupid. It isn't just Korea but all other countries in Asia (Thailand, Japan, Vietnam, China, etc....) look for that white face and young age. Is it fair? No, of course not and it down right sucks. To write on this board and complain about it is a waste of time. There maybe other reasons they won't hire your friend. There are a truck load of people with the same qualifications who can't land an interview or job. There is nothing special about your friend's qualifications. I wish he/her the best of luck. Next time you decide to bash Korea (which is easy to do) put a little bit more thought into it. Cool

Why are you telling him the context he should use in future conversations with others? You be sure to say a nice 'anyong haseyo' to your elders. Be sure to bow - and make it look convincing, too. You've even convinced yourself that you love it so much.

I might be wrong, but this sounds like he's trying to keep the competition away Laughing

Sad part is, it's the public schools!

Public schools that have had their budgets cut drastically not wanting to hire someone with experience and certifications. Well, DUH.

Every 100k a month in Salary = about 1.5 mil a year (salary, taxes, pension, insurance, etc). Considering GEPIK has been cut by 10% (losing 200 teachers), their is a flood of new candidates, and every feather in the cap costs 1.5 mil, it's no wonder your friend doesn't get interviews. I personally know of 3 black teachers where I live, 2 of whom were renewed, one let go because of budget cuts but he picked up another job at a nearby school.

Sure, there is racism here, but it's not the cause of troubles. In the words of Clinton, "It's the economy, stupid"
