Hi
I have this friend... haha... its true this time. And he has had a stretch of real bad luck, kinda goin' a bit batty. He wants out. I'm trying to convince him to stay, but he only has five more months left. He asked me to post on this site about the implications of such actions. Can his place of employment find him in england. He has a passport, but there is no address listed on said passport. He took this job while in korea, so they do not know contact info back home. His mother is ill, and he is concerned that late night harrassment on the part of an angry employer will do more damage than its worth.
Any help would be great. Thankyou in advance. |

I guess it depends on what you mean by goin kinda batty. If he has committed a crime, then the Koreans may or may not be able to go after him, if they have some sort of agreement with the English government. If he just leaves, I think it is only a civil matter. I would check with
http://www.efl-law.com/ about that, as I am not a lawyer - that is just what I've heard. |

they might threaten that they are going to find him or whatever if they find out he's leaving, but most owners are pretty lazy since they would have to spend alot of time trying to ban him from the country. Tell him to go home and tell no one he works with, and leave the day after payday.
dont give even one day notice because korean bosses will make his life very difficult and they will get very rude with him. They would be able to find him. Even if they had his # at home if he kept hanging up when they called, they would get the point.
also, if he hates it here and his school, boss etc... then 5 months is actually 5 years |

If he is that desparate to go, advise him to get a ticket and go home. We had two taechers do a bolt and though the director spat chips, there is nothing they can do outside of Korea. |
