I'm planning to buy an iPad next month. I'm wondering whether it's better to:
1) Sign up for a 3G data service plan (is this possible with an E-2 visa?)
or
2) Purchase access to one of the popular wireless hotspot services...maybe NESPOT or something like that? (I assume this is easy enough, though I'm not familiar with the process)
Any suggestions? |

When I wanted to get my iPad, I had a lot of Koreans telling me I wouldn't be able to get a 3G one simply because my Visa would expire before the end of my contract.
So I ended up buying a WiFi one (from a user on this board) and am extremely happy with it.
Whether you want to buy network access is up to you, but even without it, I end up with access in a surprising number of areas. |

I would go with the 3G data service. Yes, you could carry around extra equipment but why would you want to? I have 3G service on my iPad and it's wonderful to just take the thing out and use it wherever I want. It's also nicer not having to worry about charging another device. |

Signing up for nespot service costs about 8 bucks a month (I read from a previous post) and you don't have to carry around extra equipment. Pretty cheap, and those hotspots are everywhere. I never did, have the wifi model, and am quite happy with it, though. I have a smart phone for anything urgent. |
