Hey guys--

My friends and I are leaving for the lunar new year to go to China. We can't tell our school because they have a rule that you "can't come back the day before a work day." So we just decided not to tell them....We realized today that our visas are expired...but, we are working here until the end of February. I figured we could just come in on a tourist visa...Will we have trouble getting back in? Will they call our miserable little hagwon? ahhh help please!!!

Thanks

You have to have an onward ticket if you come in on a tourist visa. You don't have it, you could run into some troubles, yes. Probably make you buy a ticket to leave the country by the end of your tourist visa.

Your visa doesn't matter. When does your ARC expire?

IF your ARC expires while you are away you can return as a tourist, (illegally) finish your contract and move on.

If your ARC expires after your return but before your contract expires you will need to deal with it. (you won't be able to return as a tourist)

If your ARC expires before you leave you are in for a world of nuisance.

Don't mention one word to your school.

If you're ARC has already expired, you've got a bit of a problem already. They might make some problems for you when you get to the airport and try to leave the country.

I'm assuming that by "visa" you meant "ARC". If not, please clarify the situation. What visa are you on?
