Again, sorry for yet another shipping question. I have read posts on here in the past in regard to my inquiry, but of course can't find them now.
Does anyone know if it is possible to send a large suitcase from Seoul to Canada? It will not fit in the biggest box at Korea Post. It's a very large suitcase, but I would prefer not to take it with me on my trip. Does anyone know of a private shipping company who could handle this? I managed to have all of my possessions privately shipped when I lived in Japan, and I was hoping they'd offer the same service in Korea.
Also, has anyone shipped a laptop home before? I understand the Korean Post office will not allow this. I NEED to send mine home. Should I just mark it as electronic parts, or will they need me to specify further? Any ideas welcome.
Thanks in advance for your help! |

It will cost more to ship your suitcase home than it will to replace it.
IF you are prepared to pay hundreds of dollars you can have it shipped air-freight (and throw your laptop inside of it). You will need someone to pick it up at the destination airport. IF your home is not in a gateway city then Air Canada is probably your best bet (albeit not the cheapest).
Yes, you can send your laptop home in a size#5 box of mixed clothes and label it as misc. electronics.

Do they have tea crates in Korea? I've used them in Britain and China. Great concept. The shipping company gives you a wooden box about 1 cubic meter. You can put whatever you want in it, no weight restrictions, and send it abroad for a flat fee. It goes by surface and can take between 3 and 6 months, so it's not fast. Great for sending heavy stuff like books. |

I have no idea about the tea crates. Perhaps I will try researching that online.
Thank you for your input guys! |

Bradshaw -
I used this company http://www.shipnex.com/ to ship things to Korea. I think they do Korea to Canada too.
It was very cheap and very fast. I read online somewhere that they purchase unused or bulk space on FedEX, UPS, etc...and then sell it to their customers at a big discount.
The risk is, if your package is lost, I hear shipnex will play the blame game and say, well we are just the middle man, you have to deal with FedEx...who will then blame it on Shipnex etc...
I used them, it was fast and cheap, my packages all came in perfect condition. I will use them again in the future. |
