To the OP, byeBe sure to tell everyone you meet how awful it is to work here and that you would never recommend it. Also ask everyone you tell to tell everyone they know and so onthanks.

You don't think that happens, regularly?

Sometimes you have to read between the lines...I've a braille version if that will help...

No I get it, you only care about your ability to make money. Crystal clear, actually.

Let's cut the b.s. He ain't gonna leave because of that. He's only gonna use it as an excuse when he leaves.

"Yeah I left cuz they discriminate against black people."

"Oh, really? How long did you live in Korea for?"

"Yeahhh about 4 years. Got tired of the racism half-way into my 3rd year.
You know... I'm white and I took advantage of the system, but sometmies you have to say, 'Hey, this is jus so unfair'.

"Yeah you're right, so how much money did you save?"

"About $50,000. When I started noticing the racism, I was like, I'm gonna save 50k and bounce and make a stance against the racism in Korea".

"You're my hero."

Besides thinking that I'm a guy, you've read me like a book. I'm taking my $50,000 and getting the heck out. Also, no need to state the obvious. Everyone knows that I have been, am and will always be your hero Smile

You're not leaving because of the racism against your friend. Don't yourself.

pffff everywhere is racist...

I am sorry that your friend is a victim of this but everybody is a victim somewhere in the world.

It is like here now in Australia when I grew up here 14-17 I used to see my friends and young teenages working at fast-food joints cafes, etc doing basic customer service jobs.

Now some places are just indians or just africans or just chinese or just korean or just for aussies. That pisses me off because when I was a teenager if I wanted a job it was easy now people can't get work experience. Heaps of places pick on race no matter where you are in the world.

I can see why that makes you feel angry but hey when I learnt Chinese I remember we had a White American lady who lived in Taiwan for 15 years one semester. You want to know what happend? The class got cancelled as everybody changed to a Chinese teacher. She got let off, and I bet it wasnt easy for her to get a job anywhere.

Korea may be bad in that sense but if you are working in the private field at a hagwon I am sorry my friend but that is a BUSINESS and NOT a SCHOOL and a company IMAGE is $$$$$....Happens here in every business race can determine what product sells and it does in Korea aswell

This line of logic makes no sense. Racism is not worth getting upset about precisely because it's been going on for a while and it's pervasive? Seems beyond cynical.

Just got to deal with it and creatively overcome it.
In America I was considered a foreigner!
In Korea I am also considered a waygookin or foreigner.
Try to use this fact or bias/prejudice to your advantage!
