http://www.chinasmack.com/2009/videos/pantene-commercial-thailand-deaf-violinist.html

This is an advert! It could probably be made into a full length feature film given the right scriptwriter. Better than that 'Go Compare' crap we have to put up with in the UK anyway.

Who can say no to a pretty girl with shinny long hair after all, no matter she is deaf or blind.

But I am really sick of "Canon" its a good piece but that doesn't mean I want it everywhere...

You know - my eyes welled up a bit watching it and then I went to wash my hair straight after but I only have 'head and shoulders' in the house! Laughing But next time I buy shampoo I will buy Pantene Pro-V! They deserve my money for such a stellar advert!

That commercial sure did pull the heart strings. Quite sentimental, but it captured Thailand quite well with the usual gorgeous white Thai-Chinese girl, the bullying, the temper tantrums, , the jealousy, the stubborn pride. What I particularly liked about it was the gentle anti-conformist message: "why do you have to be like others?" That is a message that I hope spreads down south.

Lots of companies make ad like this one and throw them on internet, they know people will help spread. ( they are a lot smarter than other ad that force you to watch between the TV shows)

The last one I watched was started by Catherine Zeta Jones <Alchemist>
Presented by LUX

But to be honest (no offend to the OP), Pantene (Korean Pantene to be specific) is my least favorite shampoo, It 's a cheap product but still affords to make tons of ad like this, you can imagine how good the quality is.

The advert worked despite the fact the deaf girl was pretty, if she had been a plain jane it would have added more emotion and more gravitas to the story in my opinion.

As for 'Canon' how can you get sick of it? Confused

Here's my music snobbery at its most basic...

What the girl played on the piano could never be beaten by Pachelbel's sh*tty canon, no matter how deaf or limbless.

Especially if she was playing it solo like that, rather than with a string orchestra as the backing track implied. She could be doing pole vaults over bears and I still wouldn't give my vote.

Saying that, I still cried a little before my irritation set in on the final performance.
Man I hate Pachelbel.

Pachelbellend, more like.

I have watched it a load of times since - I hope that kind of advertising catches on in the UK.

You cried, I cried! It was an excellent piece of film! Five stars! Why I hadn't seen it before now is beyond me! Evil or Very Mad

What do you mean by 'that kind'. Dramatic, emotional? or non sequitur?

examples of both are all over the shop. This one also brings a tear to the eye from... Japan? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpf2hsZGsJM&feature=related

Then there's all those shock factor British 'don't speed/drink and drive' ads.

It was the fact that the story was important and it was clever that it was non sequitur - like a drama within the commerical break and it was only then at the very end for 10 seconds that you knew what the advert was, I was so impressed that I am going to buy a shitload of Pantene Pro-V tomorrow at wal mart! And I don't need shampoo as I bought a load of '3 for 2' head and shoulders a month ago.

I am a sucker for it and emotional - and I am going to check out your youtube link and report back here sir!

Japan? Probably Thai. Doesn't sound like Japanese at all.

No, hence my question mark, because it says in the 'tags' bit 'Japan', but I also wasn't convinced. Anyway, it's sad.

It is Thai. Look at the writing at the end. I highly doubt it's Lao or Khmer (I get those alphabets mixed up).
