Within the ESL industry (private, public, elementary, adult, etc.), what personality fits most appropriately with what position?

(i.e. Energetic and caring individual = Kindergarten hagwon teacher)

I don't think there are any correct answers to your question.

Koreans will say they want "active" teachers regardless of the type of position.

When questioned further on what they mean by active, it usually boils down to talkative, outgoing, energetic etc.

One thing that is sure to lead to friction is someone who is negative and complains .

Flexible, open minded, patient, and not prone to passing negative judgement on other people, their culture, and how they do things differently than we do back home. A person who can live and work independently without peers to relate with and live with a mindset aimed at objectively solving problems surrounding communication difficulties and unspoken expectations is who can stay the course. ESL brings people of all backgrounds and you may be the only Westerner and the only person in your school and neighborhood who speak English so it requires an independent person who can control their alcohol within reasonable limits.

It must be a difficult choice for adult Hagwan bosses/owners as on the one hand adult students will be predominantly female so a young, blond blue eyed male will more likely pull in the punters. However on the other hand they won't want to risk hiring a drinking, drug taking, womaniser type who will deflower the Korean maidens. Tough call. I suppose the ideal candiate would be a good looking guy guy who remains in the closet.

I don't include this on my resume.
