cool band. they worked with Alan Moulder and have some of the My Bloody Valentine tendencies but more wild. The guy from 90s band Curve is doing bass and programming.

The Growlers

Swamp-pop swirling up from the depths of California, The Growlers surf-tinged, Goth-edged rock and roll manages to be both lush and lo-fi at once.

The Brian Jonestown Massacre
Ryan Adams
The Warlocks
My Bloody Valentine
Spacemen 3
Catherine Wheel
Paul Westerberg (solo stuff- not The Replacements, who are better known)
Red House Painters
Whiskeytown

Not super obscure or anything, but they don't really have any hits. BJM is my favorite band these days.

I love MBV and really liked those youtube songs, but I can't find them online anywhere. Know any website that has their MP3s available to download (okay, steal)?

Have you seen DiG? You would probably like the band Spindrift (they share a few members with BJM).

Yeah, Dig is awesome. Love the Dandies as well, but I think it's a good documentary on its own.

The Meat Purveyors- Psychograss music. Such hits as a remake of "How Can I be so Thirsty Today (When I Had So Much to Drink Last Night)", the double-entendred "Tall Boy", a haunting remake of "Morning After" and "More Man"

Kenny & Amanda Smith Band- Bluegrass, not obscure in the Bluegrass world, but I'm guessing not too many folks have heard of them here.

Jill Scott- Again not obscure in Neo-Soul circles, but probably obscure here.

Macabre- Metal band (not normally my cup of tea), but they have this one awesome acoustic album called Morbid Campfire songs.

Theater Organ music.

I like checking out some of the K-Indie artists. A lot of their concerts promote social awareness issues as well, so its an added bonus. I have a thread on this somewhere so search if you're interested.

Also some of the acts at K-Jazz clubs are pretty interesting. 말로 Band live was pretty good. She is a very emotional performer and puts on a good show.
